The Volkswagen ID.7, the flagship electric sedan of the ID. family, has achieved the highest score in the history of the ‘German Automobile Club (ADAC)’ vehicle evaluation, making it the first vehicle ever selected as ‘Very Good.’
ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club) is the largest automotive association in Europe and a reputable institution that evaluates car performance and safety. Each year, top experts and engineers conduct authoritative evaluations on over 100 vehicles based on 7 categories and 350 items.
The ID.7 is Volkswagen’s first flagship pure electric sedan, embodying spaciousness, excellent efficiency, and cutting-edge driving assist features, making it a core model in Volkswagen’s electric vehicle lineup. It is equipped with a new high-efficiency electric drivetrain that delivers a maximum output of 210 kW (286 horsepower), with a WLTP-rated maximum range of 700 km on a single charge, depending on battery capacity.
In this evaluation, the ID.7 received a ‘Very Good’ rating in key areas: ▲Drivetrain (1.0 points) ▲Safety (1.1 points) ▲Environment (1.2 points) ▲Convenience (1.5 points), and a ‘Good’ rating in ▲Driving Characteristics (2.1 points) ▲Body and Cargo Space (2.3 points) ▲Interior (2.4 points).
Notably, the ID.7’s comprehensive score of 1.5 was bolstered by the weighted significance of the safety and environment categories, thereby making it the first in ADAC’s history to receive the ‘Very Good’ rating, which is only awarded to vehicles achieving a total score between 0.6 and 1.5.
The evaluation utilized the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro, recognized for its exceptional energy efficiency with a WLTP-combined rating of 5.49 km/kWh (18.1 kWh/100km). This outstanding energy efficiency allowed the ID.7 to score 0.7 points in the ‘Energy Consumption’ category, achieving a five-star rating in the Ecotest.
The ID.7’s achievement of the maximum score of 0.6 points in the ‘Active Safety – Assistance Systems’ category also contributed to the evaluation’s success. Notably, starting from €53,995, the ID.7 is available at a reasonable price compared to other models that have historically achieved the highest overall scores in previous ADAC evaluations, showcasing the excellent technology, marketability, and completeness of Volkswagen’s electric vehicles.
Dino Silvestro, head of automotive evaluation at the ADAC Technology Center, stated, “ADAC conducts objective and unrestricted evaluations through modern testing facilities and precise evaluation methods, regardless of vehicle ratings and prices, to protect consumers. We are pleased to demonstrate through the evaluation results of the ID.7 that safety, efficiency, and comfort do not have to be a question of price.”
Kai Grünitz, a board member responsible for brand technology development at Volkswagen, expressed pride in the ID.7’s excellent performance in the independent and highly authoritative ADAC evaluation, stating, “Such excellent evaluation results will play a significant role in persuading potential customers considering the Volkswagen electric sedan.”
