The INEOS Grenadier has been deployed to the K+S potash mine located in Zillitz, central Germany, as part of an additional vehicle testing program. This test aims to prove the vehicle’s durability and performance in challenging industrial environments. The extreme conditions of high salinity demand exceptional durability from the vehicle.
This mine extracts about 45,000 tons of raw salt daily and spans an area of 61 square kilometers, with some tunnels reaching depths of 1,300 meters underground. The Grenadier comes equipped with front and rear skid plates as well as a fuel tank protector, showcasing its corrosion-resistant features. The underbody protection is finished with high-quality powder coating to guard against stone chips and off-road scratches. Furthermore, the chassis is double-protected with E-coat treatment.
“Extreme testing is nothing new for us since we have rigorously tested the Grenadier from the early stages of vehicle development,” said Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive. “However, the collaboration with our global partners has allowed the Grenadier to demonstrate its overwhelming off-road performance on the road, off the road, and now in mine tunnels as well.”
INEOS is confident in the Grenadier’s uncompromising 4X4 performance. From the start of development, the Grenadier has undergone rigorous testing exceeding 1.8 million kilometers in extreme conditions, including temperatures as low as minus 35 degrees Celsius and altitudes above 600 meters, as well as the notorious Schöckl Mountain in Austria.
Combining the British spirit with meticulously engineered German design, the INEOS Grenadier is an ideal vehicle for those requiring robust performance while providing modern comfort and sophistication. The core of the Grenadier includes a full-box ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, a two-speed transfer case, and up to three differential locks, powered by a specially calibrated BMW 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine.
The Grenadier Station Wagon, Quartermaster pickup truck, and Quartermaster chassis cab are produced at the state-of-the-art Hambach factory in Moselle, which was acquired by INEOS Automotive in January 2021, and employs 1,700 people.
