‘Audi Q6L e-Tron’

Audi will unveil its future strategy and electric vehicle portfolio at the ‘2024 Auto China’ held in Beijing. At the Audi booth, the company will present the Audi Q6L e-Tron, set to be produced by Audi FAW NEV Company at its Changchun factory, for the first time in the world.

Audi plans to introduce a roadmap for electrifying its portfolio in the Chinese market during the Volkswagen Group Night event and the press conference on the opening day.

At ‘2024 Auto China’, starting on April 25, Audi will showcase various new models. The diverse vehicles and new models presented at the Audi booth reflect the brand’s ongoing efforts to meet the specific demands of the Chinese market. All vehicles displayed will be electric, demonstrating Audi’s commitment to the growing demand for alternative energy vehicles in China.

The ‘New Audi Q6L e-Tron’ will be premiered at the Volkswagen Group Night event on April 24. From April 25 to May 4, Audi will also present the Q5 e-Tron RS Edition, specifically designed for the Chinese market, alongside the first showing of the SQ6 in China.

The official Audi press conference will take place at the Audi booth at 9:40 AM on April 25. Gerhard Döllner, CEO of Audi, will be the keynote speaker, and representatives from Audi’s Chinese partners FAW and SAIC will also be in attendance, including Johannes Roschek, the new president of Audi China.

The unveiling of the Audi Q6L e-Tron marks the start of the largest model launch plan in Audi’s history focused on China.

Localization of Audi’s key models is at the heart of the regional strategy called ‘In China for China’. Gerhard Döllner, Audi CEO, stated, “The Chinese market is central to Audi’s emergence as a leading global supplier in the premium electric mobility sector. We are executing plans to continue Audi’s success through the opening of a new factory in Changchun, producing electric models locally and integrating cutting-edge digital technologies tailored to user requirements.”

The launch of the Q6L e-Tron represents the introduction of the new PPE platform to the Chinese market. Audi FAW NEV Company is set to start production of three PPE-based models, including the Audi Q6 e-Tron and Audi A6 e-Tron series, before the end of 2024. Preparations for mass production are already underway at the new factory. This new facility, operated by the joint venture Audi FAW NEV Company, is located in Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province in northeast China, and will be the first Audi factory exclusively producing Audi electric vehicles for the Chinese market. Furthermore, the Changchun plant boasts a high degree of digitalization, efficiency, and sustainability.

In addition to the new factory, Audi has a clear electrification strategy for China. The company is already showcasing various electrified models in the market and continually expanding its portfolio. Alongside this, Audi operates a range of localized internal combustion engine models to fully meet the diverse demands of a broad customer base.

Audi’s China portfolio is designed to meet the varied needs of the market. Through its subsidiary Audi China in Beijing, the joint venture FAW-Volkswagen based in Changchun, Shanghai-based SAIC Volkswagen, and the new production site of Audi FAW NEV Company, Audi AG has established the largest single market in the world.

As a result of the ‘two-partner strategy’ introduced in 2021, Audi now offers the most extensive model portfolio in China to date. Additionally, Audi plans to develop new electric vehicles in collaboration with SAIC to solidify its success in the Chinese market.
