‘BMW Jumunjin Charging Station’

BMW Korea has officially opened the ‘BMW Charging Station’, an electric vehicle charging facility located at Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon-do.

The Jumunjin Beach BMW Charging Station can simultaneously charge up to eight electric vehicles. The building of the charging station incorporates the patterns of pine trees, which are widely distributed in Gangwon-do, emphasizing regional characteristics.

The Jumunjin Beach BMW Charging Station is open to all electric vehicle drivers in Korea, not just for BMW Group’s electrified models. This is expected to help meet the charging demands of local residents and tourists in the nearby area.

Meanwhile, BMW Korea first introduced the BMW Charging Station in December 2022 at the BMW Driving Center on Yeongjong Island, Incheon, featuring the largest single space charging facility in Korea, capable of charging 80 electric vehicles at once. Since then, the charging infrastructure has expanded across various locations including Seoul and North Gyeongsang Province, boasting a total of 1,119 chargers as of February 2024.

This year, BMW Korea is rolling out the ‘Charging Next’ project, planning to install an additional 1,000 electric vehicle chargers, aiming for a total infrastructure of 2,100 chargers. Additionally, they plan to build ‘ESG Charging Stations’, combining renewable energy resources like wind power and energy storage systems made from recycled electric vehicle batteries, reinforcing the sustainability philosophy ensconced in the BMW brand.

A new concept charging and rest area called the ‘BMW Hub Charging Station’, which is an evolution from the existing BMW Charging Stations, will also be introduced. Located along highways and expressways, the BMW Hub Charging Station will serve as a comfortable rest area for electric vehicle charging customers, while showcasing various electric vehicle models for customers to experience a new form of e-mobility proposed by BMW.
