‘Peugeot E 5008 SUV’

On the 20th (local time), Peugeot unveiled the new 7-seater electric SUV ‘New Peugeot E-5008 SUV’, set to debut in the global market this fall, accelerating its journey towards becoming a 100% electrified brand.

The ‘New Peugeot E-5008 SUV (hereafter New E-5008)’ is a spacious 7-seater electric SUV with a maximum driving range of 660 km (based on WLTP). It is the only 7-seater model in the European C segment market, setting a new standard for the 7-seater electric SUV segment.

The New E-5008 is based on Stellantis’ dedicated electric vehicle platform ‘STLA Medium’. First introduced with the New E-3008 SUV in September last year, the STLA Medium platform is used in the New E-5008, which boasts body dimensions of 4,790 mm in length and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, demonstrating extensive scalability.

The New E-5008 adopts a more robust and refined design compared to its predecessor. With an aerodynamically influenced silhouette, a luxurious interior, and a rugged character that emphasizes safety, the New E-5008 combines the dynamism inherent in SUVs with a refined elegance as Peugeot’s top-end segment model, offering a distinctly new value proposition.

The front features an innovative grille that harmonizes with the body color and a new light signature. The grille is accentuated by a slim and elegant black band that wraps around the front of the New E-5008. It also incorporates ultra-compact LED headlights, and the GT trim comes standard with Pixel LED technology, which automatically adjusts the headlights according to traffic conditions to avoid obstructing the view of other drivers. The side profile enhances sophistication with sleek and sharp vertical lines.

The interior features the ‘Panoramic i-Cockpit®’ first introduced in the New E-3008 SUV, providing a ‘21-inch HD panoramic screen’ that integrates the head-up display (HUD) and a large central touchscreen, standard in the GT trim.

Ambient LED lighting applied below the screen creates a floating sensation, placed ergonomically for easy access by both the driver and front-seat passenger. At the center of the dashboard, the i-Toggles® is placed, which allows the driver to customize 10 functions according to their preferences. Notably, a large panoramic glass roof lets in abundant natural light, accessible even to the third row.

In addition to a range of premium features, the New E-5008 boasts excellent space dynamics characteristic of a 7-seater SUV. The second row offers generous legroom thanks to the spacious wheelbase and features sliding bench seats that fold 60:40. Particularly, to facilitate access to the third-row seats, the Easy Access system is equipped, allowing the second-row seats to be fully inclined forward with a button located on the backrest of the second-row seat. The trunk space can extend from a minimum of 259 liters to a maximum of 1,815 liters depending on the seat configuration, accommodating various loads.

The New E-5008, with an expanded application of Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, boasts the longest driving range in its segment while providing top-tier experiences in key areas such as charging time, driving capabilities, energy efficiency, and connected services. The latest platform harmonizes Stellantis’ cutting-edge powertrain and battery technologies, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

Specifically, the electric motor employs Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) technology to enhance output and efficiency. The two-wheel-drive model delivers peak outputs of 157 kW and 170 kW, while the dual-motor four-wheel-drive model achieves a maximum output of 237 kW.

The battery is a large 98 kWh unit that enables a maximum range of 660 km on a single charge and minimizes charging anxiety by allowing for just 10 minutes of quick charging for 100 km of range and charging from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes. The batteries are manufactured at the Douvrin gigafactory in France by the Automotive Cells Company (ACC), a joint venture with TOTAL, and the performance is guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km through the Peugeot Allure Care program, one of the longest in Europe.

To maximize the driving experience, the New E-5008 is equipped with numerous advanced technologies. The ‘i-Connect® Advanced,’ integrated with OpenAI’s generative AI service ‘ChatGPT,’ allows for voice control of convenience devices through the ‘OK Peugeot voice assistant’ feature in a conversational style, offering a wealth of information. The ‘VisioPark 360°,’ based on four cameras and 12 sensors, is an optional feature that provides a 360-degree field of view, helping to prevent unexpected accidents while driving and parking.

Additionally, over 40 advanced safety and convenience features assist the driver. ‘Drive Assist Plus 2.0’ includes adaptive cruise control (with stop & go), lane-keeping assist, semi-autonomous lane change, and proactive speed suggestions that help adjust speed according to road conditions, such as rain.

In alignment with its sustainable goals, Peugeot utilized over 500 kg of materials for the New E-5008, with eco-friendly steel and aluminum accounting for 60% of all sustainable materials. More than 30 polymer parts made from eco-friendly materials were adopted, and components such as bumpers, deflectors, storage compartments, and carpets are made from recycled plastics, eliminating all chrome-plated parts from the exterior of the New E-5008.

The New E-5008 will be produced at the Sochaux plant in France and will begin global sales this fall. It will be available in two versions: Allure and GT, with a choice of three electric motors. In addition to the pure electric version, there will also be 48V hybrid and plug-in hybrid options available.
