On the 25th, LG Uplus announced that it will exclusively provide broadcast transmission lines for the international sports event to be held in Paris, France, this July, to the three major domestic broadcasters (KBS/MBC/SBS).

The live game footage, shot in Paris, will be transmitted through the International Broadcasting Center → the transmission networks and underwater cables installed in each country → to LG Uplus’ Anyang Broadcasting Center, from where it will be delivered to the three major domestic broadcasters.

The dedicated lines for broadcasting consist of a total of 116 lines, including ▲ 63 broadcast lines for UHD, HD, etc., ▲ 3 internet lines, ▲ 5 communication lines, and ▲ 45 telephone lines.

Recognizing that every moment is critical in sports, LG Uplus is committed to building a stable communication network to avoid any issues in broadcasting.

First, it will apply the ‘super low latency’ technology and ‘Hitless Protection’ method, which received positive feedback during the last competition held in Tokyo. Hitless Protection is a technology that allows broadcasting to continue smoothly even if the main network line is interrupted by rerouting through a backup line.

The paths of the cables installed in each country and under the sea have been quadrupled to ensure that communication does not get interrupted even during physical emergencies such as earthquakes.

LG Uplus plans to apply its self-developed integrated broadcasting monitoring system, ‘One-View (NMS3.0),’ to the Paris international sports event. This system monitors the broadcast lines and equipment 24/7, allowing immediate identification of any issues so that specialized technical personnel on-site can respond promptly.

Based on its reliable underwater cable operation methods, technology for building international broadcasting systems, and skilled personnel, LG Uplus is able to exclusively provide the broadcast lines for the upcoming international sports event. Additionally, the know-how gained from successfully completing broadcasts for past international sports events in London, Sochi, and Tokyo has been immensely helpful.

Lee Seong-woo, head of IT enterprise sales at LG Uplus, stated, “Being selected again as the provider for the broadcast lines of the international sports event is a recognition of our unique technology and know-how.” He further added, “We will continue to enhance our technology and actively participate in various international sports events to ensure stable broadcasts.”
