BMW i5 M60 xDrive skiing down the slope

BMW Korea has unveiled a skiing and turning video featuring the high-performance all-electric sedan, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive.

This video was produced as part of BMW’s premium electric brand campaign, ‘KEEP THE VIBE,’ aiming to showcase the dynamic driving performance inherent to the BMW brand in pure electric models.

The competition, held on the ‘Jazz’ course at Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, in January, saw the BMW i5 M60 xDrive duke it out with a professional skier in slalom and carving events. This ‘Jazz’ course is the same one where a video was filmed two years ago of THE iX ascending to the summit, which garnered significant attention.

The BMW i5 M60 xDrive involved in the challenge is the top-of-the-line model in the new 5 Series lineup, boasting the most robust performance with a combined output of 601 horsepower and a maximum torque of 81.1 kg·m from its two electric motors. It features BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive system, BMW xDrive, and was used in its original condition, with only winter tires added.

The competition video creatively cross-edited sequences of starts, cornering, and braking to vividly express the electric M model’s inherent agility and dynamic driving performance even on snow.

The skiing and turning competition video of the BMW i5 M60 xDrive can be viewed on BMW Korea’s official YouTube channel (https://youtube.com/bmwkorea/). Additionally, behind-the-scenes footage documenting the preparation for this competition is set to be released in the near future.

In February 2022, BMW Korea previously showcased an impressive video of the BMW iX, the first mass-produced electric vehicle, climbing a ski slope to highlight BMW’s excellent electric vehicle technology.

Despite frigid temperatures below -14°C, the BMW iX demonstrated exceptional performance, completing a total of 13 round trips on a 1.35 km course with an average slope of 21.2% over a total of 6 hours.

The skiing slope climb video featuring the BMW iX garnered significant attention, amassing over 1.3 million views on YouTube.
