‘INEOS Fuelier’

INEOS Automotive officially announced the new 4X4 vehicle, the INEOS Fuelier, in accordance with its zero-emission model development plan confirmed in May 2022. The INEOS Fuelier offers world-class off-road performance along with uncompromising excellent on-road performance, and it is available with two powertrain options: all-electric and low-emission range-extender electric.

Chairman Jim Ratcliffe unveiled the INEOS Fuelier in London, highlighting that the vehicle is being developed with an all-electric powertrain and a low-emission range-extender electric powertrain to meet the varied demands of global consumers while pursuing decarbonization. The range-extender electric uses a small gasoline engine to provide power to the generator to maintain battery charge when external charging is difficult. Detailed specifications and release schedules for the alternative powertrains will be finalized in the fall of 2024.

Chairman Ratcliffe stated, “In the process of developing this vehicle, we concluded that we must mix various powertrain technologies to continuously produce the cars that consumers want while pursuing carbon reduction. The all-electric powertrain is suitable for specific uses such as short-distance travel and urban delivery. However, the industry and government should also have realistic expectations for other technologies that can help accelerate the pace of change. Therefore, we are providing additional powertrains for the Fuelier that drastically reduce emissions while offering the necessary driving range and refueling capability.”

Developed in collaboration with Magna, a leading automotive contract manufacturer, the INEOS Fuelier is set to be produced at Magna’s facility in Graz, Austria. The Fuelier will offer customers a unique proposition. Based on the DNA of the Grenadier, the new 4X4 will have a modern and distinctive identity, slightly shorter in body length and lower in height compared to the Grenadier. The Fuelier will be built on a bespoke skateboard platform featuring a steel upper structure and vehicle floor, along with aluminum doors and closures.

INEOS has also partnered with Magna for the development of the Grenadier Station Wagon and Quartermaster Pickup Truck. Magna, the world’s largest automotive parts supplier and contract manufacturer, produces a variety of internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles for several OEMs. The development of the INEOS Fuelier includes a rigorous testing program in the rugged mountain area of Schöckl, near Magna’s vehicle assembly plant in Graz, Austria.

INEOS Automotive’s CEO Lyn Calder commented, “Announcing a third model line is another important milestone for INEOS Automotive. We are solidifying our commitment as a long-term automotive manufacturer.”
