Dolby has kicked off its related event for the 2024 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024) starting on the 9th (local time).

During the event, Dolby will introduce ‘Dolby Vision’ and ‘Dolby Atmos’, technologies that continuously solidify its market leadership. The company plans to unveil its latest innovative technologies, including ‘Dolby Atmos FlexConnect’, and share news of new partnerships with leading brands in the automotive, consumer electronics, and service provider sectors, as well as the expansion of existing partnerships.

John Couling, Senior Vice President of Dolby Laboratories’ Entertainment Division, stated, “Dolby’s technology is raising consumer standards for high-quality audio and video. We are working hard to offer Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos across more devices and content, and through new technologies like ‘Dolby Atmos FlexConnect’, we will do our best to ensure that more people can experience Dolby’s technology.”

Mercedes-Benz, Audible, and Amazon Music announced a partnership to provide a premium music catalog and immersive content incorporating Dolby Atmos for Mercedes-Benz customers. This collaboration targets Audible’s title collection supporting Dolby Atmos along with Audible’s rapidly growing music catalog, including many popular original tracks. Currently, the Amazon Music app supporting Dolby Atmos is available in some Mercedes-Benz vehicles, with the Audible app expected to be introduced in vehicles equipped with the optional Burmester 4D and 3D sound systems and the latest MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) by the end of the year.

Dolby is also collaborating with Lotus, a first-time participant at CES 2024. Lotus will showcase its new Electra Hyper SUV at the ‘Dolby House,’ where visitors can experience the vehicle’s sound system featuring Dolby Atmos. The Electra is a model Lotus launched in 2023, with sales expected to begin in North America later this year.

As the demand for immersive in-car audio experiences increases, more than 10 global automotive manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz and Lotus, have either launched or announced plans to launch vehicles supporting Dolby Atmos.

This year at CES 2024, Hisense announced support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect provides flexibility by seamlessly connecting wireless speakers to a TV’s sound system, allowing speakers to be placed freely where desired, delivering a Dolby Atmos experience. This system intelligently customizes Dolby Atmos sound according to the spatial arrangement or speaker settings after connection, allowing users to enjoy excellent sound from any location in the home.

Prior to this, TCL also announced plans to integrate Dolby Atmos FlexConnect into its upcoming TV models by the end of 2023. MediaTek, one of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, recently announced support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect on its Pentonic smart TV platform. This technology aims to provide a turnkey solution for manufacturers wishing to implement Dolby Atmos FlexConnect based on a reliable high-performance wireless platform integrated into MediaTek’s Pentonic and Filogic chipsets.

At CES 2024, attendees can experience the expanded installation options of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, introducing new configuration methods and how the system can evolve to work with next-generation wireless protocols.

Alienware and Asus have announced the launch of their first gaming PC monitors supporting Dolby Vision. Alienware’s 32 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW3225QF) and Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM will be equipped with Dolby Vision.

This marks the first support for Dolby Vision in gaming PC monitors from a global PC manufacturer, allowing customers to experience stunning picture quality across a wide range of entertainment fields, particularly enjoying the vivid visuals offered by Dolby Vision during gaming sessions.

In addition, Dell announced that its latest XPS laptops will offer both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos experiences.
