The pride of domestic luxury sedans. Just one phrase is enough. This is the Genesis G80. The Genesis G80 has been updated as a third-generation facelifts model. The G80, which has undergone its third-generation facelift, has significantly improved its value to a level comparable to a full model change with an array of cutting-edge digital features and comfort equipment.

On the 12th, Hyundai Motor held the unveiling event for the new Genesis G80 model at Lespace in Gangnam, Seoul. The G80 has been an important model that led the launch of the Genesis brand in 2015 through the first generation model, which started in 2008 under the name Genesis, and the second generation model released in 2013. The G80 name started selling in 2016, recording global sales of 400,000 units, establishing itself as a core model in the Genesis lineup.

The front’s crest grille is designed with a dual mesh structure, creating an elegant and luxurious image. The dual headlamps, a symbol of Genesis, have adopted MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology, enhancing sophistication with advanced technology. The rear also features the two-line rear lamps that symbolize Genesis, a V-shaped chrome trim inspired by the crest grille design, and hidden mufflers for a futuristic image.

Measuring 5,005 x 1,925 x 1,465mm. From the A-pillar to the C-pillar, it showcases an alluring silhouette, representing the dynamism unique to the G80. Helicopter-rotor patterned 20-inch wheels, beige-toned interiors reveal the unique Korean beauty of Genesis.

With a wheelbase of 3,010mm, passengers in the second row have ample space—enough for three fists in front of knees and one fist with a palm laid flat overhead. The center tunnel rises to the wrist, making it difficult for an adult to sit in the middle of the second row. Riding as a four-seater contributes to safety.

Second-row convenience has been enhanced.

The G80 is equipped with a 14.6-inch rear seat monitor. It can access video services like YouTube and Netflix through its own communication network. Additionally, an independent touch control system for the second-row air conditioning enhances comfort for long journeys.

An integrated 27-inch display combines the driver’s instrument cluster and center display. This elongated display can be split into two or three sections, allowing navigation, video content, and various services to be shown simultaneously.

The climate control system is located beneath the integrated display. The physical buttons of the climate control have been replaced with a touch interface for easier operation.

The luxurious dial transmission of Genesis is included. Next to the dial transmission is a covered cup holder, and the center console comes equipped with a sterilizing infrared function and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

The G80 is available in two powertrain options: a gasoline 3.5 turbo trim with a maximum output of 380 horsepower and torque of 54.0 kg.m, and a gasoline 2.5 turbo engine with a maximum output of 304 horsepower and a maximum torque of 43.0 kg.m.

The G80’s base price starts at 58.9 million won. By adding the recommended options from Genesis, including the gasoline 3.5 turbo engine (6.6 million won) + AWD (2.8 million won) + Signature Design Selection II (3 million won) + Popular Package (3.7 million won) + Panoramic Sunroof (1.4 million won) + Second Row Comfort Package (2 million won) + Convenience Package (1.9 million won) + Driving Assistant Package (2 million won), the total price becomes 85.6 million won.
