Jaguar Racing Team’s Nick Cassidy

JLR Korea announced that driver Nick Cassidy, newly joined Jaguar TCS Racing Team, secured the fastest lap and finished 3rd in the opening round of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship held on the 13th (local time) in Mexico City.

Jaguar TCS Racing Team’s Mitch Evans also delivered an impressive race, finishing 5th in the Mexico City E-Prix and adding crucial points for the team. The Jaguar TCS Racing Team started the season in 2nd place in the team championship with 26 points, just 2 points shy of the leader.

Nick Cassidy, who landed on the podium in his first race with Jaguar TCS Racing, made a successful debut by winning the 2008 Formula First New Zealand series.

Since 2020, Nick Cassidy has participated in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as a member of Envision Racing. During the 2023 season, when the Envision Racing team raced with the Jaguar I-TYPE 6, he achieved 2nd place in the driver standings and played a key role in leading the team to the championship victory.

The 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship marks the second season for the Jaguar TCS Racing Team competing with the Jaguar I-TYPE 6. Following last year’s entry, Sébastien Buemi from Envision Racing finished 2nd, showcasing the strong performance of the Jaguar I-TYPE 6 with three of the four Jaguar cars finishing within the top five in the season opener.

The Jaguar I-TYPE 6 is the most advanced and efficient pure electric racing car from Jaguar. It is the first FIA Formula E racing car to have powertrains installed at both the front and rear and is equipped with a front 250kW and a rear 350kW powertrain. Compared to the previous generation, it boasts a weight reduction of 50kg and an enhancement of maximum output by 100kW, achieving a top speed of 322 km/h. Notably, in qualifying, Mitch Evans recorded the fastest lap time of the day, demonstrating the powerful performance of the Jaguar I-TYPE 6.

James Barclay, the director of the Jaguar TCS Racing Team, expressed, “We are pleased to start the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season with positive results. Nick Cassidy’s podium finish in his first race with Jaguar TCS Racing is an inspiring achievement for the whole team. We will do our best to achieve good results in the season’s first doubleheader scheduled two weeks from now at Diriyah E-Prix.”
