‘GM’s New CSO Jeong Jeong-yoon’

General Motors announced on the 29th the appointments of the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer for its Korean operations.

Jeong Jeong-yoon, the current Chief Marketing Officer, will be appointed as the newly established Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) starting February 1st. Jeong will lead the development and execution of strategies for the company’s commercial and domestic market operations, focusing on long-term growth and sustainability.

Yoon Myeong-ok, currently in charge of communications, has also been appointed as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), effective February 1st, and will take on both roles alongside her existing responsibilities at GM Korea.

Yoon will oversee the communications department while also spearheading marketing strategy development and execution for domestic sales and the Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brands as the new CMO.

GM cited the need for a more long-term strategy for the domestic market and the enhancement of its multi-brand strategy and customer experience-focused marketing as reasons for this leadership change.

As the new CSO, Jeong Jeong-yoon has been with GM since 2003 and has held various marketing roles for brands such as Cadillac and Chevrolet. Promoted to Executive Director in 2021, she has led Chevrolet’s domestic sales, and in November 2022, she was appointed as CMO for the Korean operations, overseeing Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC brands.

Yoon Myeong-ok has been with GM since 2019 and was responsible for communications in the overseas division, before being promoted to Executive Director in 2020 to lead communications for the Korean operation. Prior to joining GM, she led communications at GE Healthcare and has worked as a marketing and communications expert for 27 years since 1997.
