The Honda All-New Accord Hybrid has been selected as the ‘2024 Car of the Year’ in the ‘2024 대한민국 올해의 차’ (Korea Car of the Year) awards held by the Korea Automotive Journalists Association, winning the title of ‘Hybrid Sedan of the Year.’ This honor demonstrates its exceptional technology and marketability as a hybrid sedan amidst fierce competition from other candidates.
Launched in October as a completely redesigned 11th generation model, the All-New Accord Hybrid is equipped with a dynamic 4th generation dual-motor hybrid system, enhancing both its environmental performance and sophisticated driving characteristics.
The engine delivers a maximum output of 147 horsepower and maximum torque of 18.4 kg∙m, while the motor achieves a maximum output of 184 horsepower and maximum torque of 34 kg∙m, providing improved performance compared to the previous model. Additionally, a ‘Charging Mode’ has been added to allow battery charging while driving, expanding the EV driving range and increasing the capability for EV operation at speeds below 50 km/h. A motion management system, the first of its kind in Honda, aids drivers in controlling the vehicle as intended, offering superior handling performance with immediate steering response during cornering.
Design, safety, and convenience features have also seen significant upgrades. The All-New Accord Hybrid presents a sleek fastback style, offering a longer vehicle length and a distinctive presence compared to past generations. The advanced Honda Sensing driver-assistance safety system has greatly improved performance, earning the TSP+ (Top Safety Pick+) designation in the IIHS crash tests, confirming its status as a leader in safety within its class.
Easy Hong, CEO of Honda Korea, expressed, “We are thrilled that the All-New Accord Hybrid has been awarded the ‘2024 Hybrid Sedan of the Year’ after an objective evaluation process. We will continue to strive to deliver vehicles that satisfy our customers based on Honda’s unique technological prowess.”
Meanwhile, the All-New Accord Hybrid has garnered praise both domestically and internationally. In December, it was chosen as the Best Car in the ‘2024 Car and Driver 10 Best Award’ organized by the influential U.S. automotive magazine ‘Car and Driver.’ This marks the 38th overall win and the 26th consecutive year for the ‘Car and Driver 10 Best Award,’ proving its outstanding product quality. Additionally, it was recognized as having the best engine by another major U.S. automotive publication, WardsAuto, in October.
