Scania Korea has been recognized as an excellent company for supporting the employment of veterans and received a commendation plaque.

At the ‘2023 Veterans Support Company and Related Agencies Invitation Meeting’ organized by the Defense Transition Education Center, Scania Korea was awarded for its contributions to providing job support for veterans as they transition to civilian life.

The Defense Transition Education Center is a specialized agency under the Ministry of Defense that focuses on the employment and transition training of impending veterans. It has been holding the ‘Veterans Support Company and Related Agencies Invitation Meeting’ to recognize companies that actively hire veterans. Since its establishment in 2015, this annual event has honored outstanding companies with commendation plaques. This year, 15 companies, including Scania Korea, received awards, with Scania Korea being the only commercial vehicle company among them.

Additionally, Scania Korea participated in the Military Job Fair organized by the Ministry of National Defense to assist veterans in settling into civilian life, providing job consultations and mentoring by current employees. In the first and second halves of this year, they selected and hired several excellent candidates as new employees through these job fairs. Scania Korea plans to continue offering useful job information and opportunities for veterans through various activities, including online and offline recruitment briefings.

Jarkko Ketola, CEO of Scania Korea, stated, “Scania Korea is hiring veterans with high potential and a spirit of challenge, assisting in their stable transition into society.” He added, “We will spare no effort in supporting them to showcase their excellent capabilities and grow alongside the company.” Furthermore, he emphasized, “We will actively continue various efforts to create quality jobs for veterans and hire exceptional talents.”

Meanwhile, beyond supporting employment for veterans, Scania Korea is running various support activities for youth through its ‘Scania Technician Academy’ internship program, which aims to foster talents for the domestic commercial vehicle industry.
