At the 21st Guangzhou International Motor Show, BYD set up booths for each of its eco-friendly brands, including Yangwang, Ocean, Denza, Fangchengbao, and Dynasty, showcasing a diverse lineup. The premium brand, Yangwang, introduced the e⁴ concept car and a supercar platform, while the Ocean series revealed its new pure electric SUV, the Sea Lion 07 EV.

During this motor show, BYD exhibited the premium brand Yangwang’s SUV U8 and supercar U9, alongside the unveiling of the e⁴ concept car and supercar platform. The e⁴ concept car represents a new kind of vehicle that departs from traditional steering and braking systems through its ‘3-in-1 technology,’ which integrates driving, braking, and steering functions into one. The supercar platform, publicly debuted at this event, is based on Yangwang’s unique architecture released earlier this year. Additionally, the interior of the U9 was revealed for the first time.

BYD showcased the Sea Lion 07 EV, the first pure electric mid-size SUV in the Ocean series. It embodies a design philosophy reminiscent of marine animals. Built on either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, it features CTB (Cell-To-Body) technology, iTAC (Intelligent Torque Control) technology, and BYD DiSus intelligent body control technology. The front tires are equipped with double wishbone suspension, while the rear utilizes a five-link suspension.

Currently, the Ocean series boasts a robust lineup with popular models like Dolphin and Seal. BYD plans that the upcoming Ocean series SUVs will be named Sea Lion and the sedans will feature the Seal designation.

BYD’s luxury brand Denza revealed the D9 Premier, the first edition of the four-seater D9, equipped with various cutting-edge technologies. The exterior of the D9 Premier features a galaxy dual-tone design, while its interior showcases craftsmanship with traditional gold plating techniques. It is equipped with 22 Devialet audio speakers, and the rear seat armrest includes an 8-inch screen.

The high-speed NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) autonomous driving assistance system is set to be released in December, followed by a city NOA function in the first quarter of next year. Vehicles with the high-speed NOA feature will be delivered to consumers in December. Additionally, numerous features such as Sentry Mode, Light Map Mode, and Commute Mode are expected to launch next year.

BYD’s specialized bespoke brand Fangchengbao also introduced the BAO 5 at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The recently launched super hybrid hardcore SUV BAO 5 incorporates BYD’s core technologies, including the hybrid off-road platform DMO (Dual Mode Off-road) and hydraulic body control system DiSus-P. True to its off-road nature, it is equipped with a five-stage protective structure and a ring-shaped double protection system for enhanced stability, utilizing a blade battery. The starting price of the BAO 5 is 289,800 yuan (approximately 52,160,000 KRW).

Meanwhile, BYD achieved record-breaking eco-friendly vehicle sales for six consecutive months in October 2023. This year, it sold over 2.37 million eco-friendly vehicles worldwide, with cumulative production exceeding 5.7 million units. Based on this innovative technological prowess, BYD continues to progress in the eco-friendly vehicle market, working towards the vision of reducing the Earth’s temperature by 1°C.
