JLR Korea participates in the ‘EMPOWER 2023’ program, which provides professional training, mentoring, and networking opportunities for future women entrepreneurs, organized by the British Embassy in Korea and the British Chamber of Commerce.

EMPOWER 2023 is part of the UK’s ‘International Women Strategy,’ announced this year in celebration of International Women’s Day. This program supports the professional development and personal empowerment of female employees in South Korea. EMPOWER aims to build a community that provides resources, networking opportunities, and education for Korean women entrepreneurs. Through this, the initiative seeks to share knowledge, experiences, and insights to help women realize their full potential.

As part of this program, JLR Korea held a workshop on October 15 at the JLR Training Academy located in Bundang, Gyeonggi-do. At this event, JLR Korea’s Managing Director, Robin Colgan, kicked off the session by introducing JLR’s reimagined strategy to implement the vision of sustainable modern luxury. Following this, JLR Korea’s Executive Finance Director, Jang Myung-hwa, Global Senior Buyer Seung-hyun Lee, and HR Executive Director Eunyeong Kim, who is also a D&I (Diversity and Inclusion) ambassador, shared strategies for future mobility innovation with aspiring women entrepreneurs and professionals.

Additionally, a career influence session was held where female executives from JLR shared insights gained from their career experiences. Geraldine Ingham, the Global Head of the Range Rover brand from the UK headquarters, connected with participants online, sharing how she overcame challenges in her career and strengthened her influence. Executive Director Jang Myung-hwa also introduced career know-how and motivation that have contributed to her growth.

In addition to JLR Korea, prominent UK companies such as Deloitte, PwC, and HSBC are also participating in the EMPOWER program. The 14 selected next-generation female business leaders in Korea will participate monthly in workshops sponsored by different companies throughout the year. This allows female leaders to gain expert knowledge and insights across various fields and learn how representatives of major institutions manage and resolve the issues faced by today’s businesses.

Meanwhile, JLR has prioritized diversity and inclusion (D&I) while realizing the future of modern luxury within its brand portfolio. It strives to create a diverse, inclusive, and integrated culture that allows every employee to reflect their true selves in the workplace and maximize their potential. As part of these D&I efforts, JLR has established various goals, including increasing the percentage of women in senior management to 30% by 2026.

JLR Korea’s Robin Colgan stated, “This workshop is one of the activities that showcase JLR’s efforts towards diversity and inclusion. We recognize the need for support in empowering women, and we will spare no effort in providing opportunities for our female employees to express their potential freely through diversity.”
