Beam Mobility has disclosed its usage data for Q3 2023. According to the usage statistics, the demand for its electric scooters has surged significantly compared to the same period last year.

In Q3 2023, the usage of Beam Mobility’s electric scooters increased by approximately 47% compared to Q3 2022, while the usage across the first to third quarters of 2023 saw about a 70% year-on-year rise. As the convenience and utility of electric scooters have been validated, their usage continues to expand each year, particularly in regions with relatively limited access to public transport, such as local and metropolitan areas.

An analysis of regional usage for electric scooters in Q3 2023 reveals an approximately 80% increase in usage outside of Seoul compared to the same period last year. Notably, the usage in Gwangju Metropolitan City more than doubled, recording the highest growth rate. The concentration of multiple universities in the Gwangju area has led to effective relocation of scooters to meet campus demands, thereby driving the increase in usage.

Following this, Incheon and Daejeon recorded significant increases in usage, with year-on-year growth of 67% and 57% respectively. Other regions, including Daegu, Paju, and Suwon, also experienced noticeable increases in usage.

As the popularity of shared scooters continues to rise, local governments are increasingly receiving requests for installation of shared scooters. Recently, the Goyang City Hall requested the deployment of electric scooters targeted at the Neunggok area.

In response to user demands, Beam Mobility is expanding its deployment of electric scooters in both the metropolitan area and regional cities. In the Bucheon area, Beam Mobility has increased its fleet by about 50% during this third quarter and is expanding services beyond existing locations to new regional cities. Recently, services have been extended to medium-sized cities like Seosan, Taean, Hongseong, Eumseong, and Jincheon.

A representative from Beam Mobility stated, “The increasing use of electric scooters in metropolitan areas outside Seoul and in regional cities is a testament to how electric scooters are positively impacting citizens’ mobility. Going forward, Beam Mobility aims to provide even more convenient services to users as a first-last mile transport solution.”
