On the 24th, Mercedes-Benz’s Social Contribution Committee announced that it successfully conducted the ‘Green+ Village’ environmental education experience camp in collaboration with the Children and Future Foundation on the 21st and 22nd.

The ‘Green+ Village’ camp is part of the children’s environmental education campaign ‘Green+ Kids’ and was held for the second time following the first camp in February. The recent experience camp was attended by over 500 elementary school students, with spots being filled within three hours after the registration announcement due to high interest.

The camp, themed ‘Choosing to Reduce Carbon: Kids Can Do It Too,’ aimed to teach children about climate action that they can implement in their daily lives through a variety of experiential learning activities, fostering their environmental sensitivity and protective awareness.

The participating children experienced environment-focused educational activities tailored to their level, such as ▲creating recycled crayons by melting unused or discarded crayons from home in the ‘Green+ ReCrayon,’ and ▲making a carbon-neutral village using leftover boxes in the ‘Green+ Upcycling Village,’ allowing them to ponder the meanings of recycling and upcycling. Also, at the ‘Green+ Zero Waste Shop,’ children exchanged unused books and items, reflecting on the importance of valuing and reusing materials, and used the green coins they received after the activities to purchase eco-friendly items.

Mathias Weit, chair of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, stated, “Through this Green+ Village, I hope the children directly feel the necessity of environmental protection and develop a willingness to practice carbon neutrality, becoming ‘Green Leaders’ who take action in daily life for climate action and environmental protection.”

Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee launched the social contribution activity ‘Mercedes-Benz Green+’ in 2021, focusing on sustainability and developing various programs aimed at promoting the importance of carbon neutrality while encouraging small actions in daily life for a sustainable tomorrow. They are particularly focusing on children’s environmental education ‘Green+ Kids,’ which was designated as an ‘Excellent Environmental Education Program’ by the Ministry of Environment last September.
