McLaren unveiled the ‘McLaren 750S’ at the Sebit Island on the Han River on the 13th. This event marks the first public showing of the 750S in Korea after announcing its global launch in April. The 750S will be available in two variants, Coupe and Spider, with the Spider showcased in Korea this time.

The McLaren 750S is a successor to the 720S, showcasing the most powerful performance among McLaren’s production models. By meticulously analyzing the 720S, approximately 30% of its components have been replaced, resulting in weight reduction and enhanced power output, integrating core technologies honed in racing to build a lighter, faster, and more powerful street-legal supercar.

Equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine and a 7-speed transmission, the 750S delivers an explosive power of 750 horsepower and peak torque of 800Nm (European standards). This exceeds the P1, McLaren’s first hybrid hypercar, which offered 737 horsepower and 720Nm. Both the Coupe and Spider can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, with the 200 km/h mark reached in only 7.2 seconds (7.3 seconds for the 750S Spider). Both variants have a top speed of 332 km/h.

The 750S has achieved remarkable weight reduction by expanding the use of carbon fiber compared to its predecessor, the 720S. High-strength carbon fiber is utilized in the seat shells, making them a staggering 17.5kg lighter than those of the 720S. The newly applied 10-spoke ultra-light forged wheels are the lightest among McLaren production supercar wheels, reducing weight by 13.8kg compared to the 720S. The rear wing also uses carbon fiber, making it 1.6kg lighter than before. As a result of this weight reduction, the Coupe’s dry weight is 1,277kg, making it 193kg lighter than its competing models. The Spider only differs by 49kg, weighing 1,326kg.

The 750S was designed from the initial planning stage with comfort as a supercar being a key consideration. The suspension plays a crucial role, featuring McLaren’s next-generation Proactive Chassis Control III hydraulic suspension. This hydraulic circuit offers higher roll stiffness than the default mode, providing precise vehicle control and exceptional ride comfort, along with stable cornering abilities. Compared to the 720S, the front springs have become about 3% softer, and the rear springs are now 4% stiffer, providing a comfortable ride while allowing dynamic driving to be finely controlled.

The design that engrosses the driver is also eye-catching. The Coupe, designed with a Monocage II structure, offers an unmatched wide view and excellent spatial experience among its competitors, thanks to the placement of the transparent glass-covered C and B pillars towards the rear.

Equipped with an exhaust system that delivers a vivid and grand sound, drivers can instantly immerse themselves in the racing-based essence of McLaren as soon as they start the engine. Additionally, the 750S introduces a new feature called McLaren Control Launcher, which allows users to save frequently used powertrains and driving modes, enabling drivers to immediately begin a ride optimized for their tastes as soon as the engine starts. Features like smartphone mirroring and Apple CarPlay are also standard.

Notable attendees at the event included Charlotte Dixon, McLaren Asia Pacific Head, Neil Underwood, Global Sales Manager for McLaren MSO, Matthias Westkopf, McLaren North Asia Manager, Lee Tae-hung, CEO of McLaren Seoul, and Lee Seung-yoon, managing director of McLaren Seoul.

Charlotte Dixon commented, “The McLaren 750S is a completely new model that sets new standards for supercars,
