Wooseong announced on the 15th that it has appointed Song Jin-woo, former head of Baedal Minjok’s operations in Vietnam, as the new CEO. With this appointment, Wooseong plans to accelerate its domestic business expansion and innovate the experiences of users and drivers in the second half of the year.

The new CEO, Song, is an expert with over 18 years of experience in various fields including tech platforms, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and EPC. He has led numerous new business developments and corporate turnarounds through innovative solutions that concretize business problems.

Pradeep Parameswaran, Head of Uber Asia Pacific, expressed his excitement about the announcement of Song’s joining: “We are very pleased to announce the addition of new CEO Song. His rich experience, leadership, and expertise will add to the foundation of innovation laid by former CEO Tom White over the past two years in the domestic mobility market, and we expect it will drive the growth of Wooseong. Korea is a key market in Uber’s mobility strategy, and we will continue to expand our business through strong collaboration with our key partner, Tmap Mobility.”

Prior to joining Wooseong, Song worked at Samsung Electronics as the head of operations in Europe and at consulting firm McKinsey. He later joined KDB Investment, a domestic private equity fund, where he successfully performed value enhancements for large construction companies in Korea. Until recently, he was responsible for the operations of Baedal Minjok in Vietnam at Woowa DH Asia, leading profitability improvements and business development. He graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in business administration and completed his MBA program at IMD in Switzerland.
