Toyota Korea officially launched the premium minivan, the Alphard, on the 18th (Monday), and it will be available for sale at Toyota official dealers nationwide.

The premium minivan Alphard, which debuted in 2002, showcased its fourth-generation model in a global world premiere last June, based on the development concept of providing ‘the joy of comfortable travel’. The model incorporates luxurious comfort spaces designed to maximize passenger convenience, a comfortable ride that minimizes fatigue over long periods, and various convenience features to satisfy both the driver and passengers, making it carefully developed to cater to various lifestyles from VIP customers to families enjoying leisure activities.

The Alphard retains the traditional one-box minivan shape while enhancing its appearance with a striking front end and a dynamic side body line, creating a sophisticated design that goes beyond conventional frameworks. The front features a three-dimensional black glossy mesh grille and dynamic triple LED headlights, while the side showcases a sporty body line complemented by a chrome garnish, completing the Alphard’s unique dynamic silhouette. The rear exhibits powerful curves from the iconic B-pillar shape to the rear combination lamps.

The interior, considerate of both the driver and passengers, is finished with soft leather, offering comfort and luxury. The driver’s seat features a high-quality 3-spoke steering wheel upholstered in natural leather and wood-patterned garnish, along with heated, ventilated Napa leather seats that enhance the driver’s comfort with a memory function.

The second-row space boasts executive lounge seats that offer a superb seating experience while allowing for easy access to various convenience features. The executive lounge seats utilize low-resilience memory foam material in the backrest and armrest for the first time at Toyota to minimize vibrations transferred to the body. Additionally, the urethane material in the lower cushion disperses weight pressure, reducing fatigue in the lower back and legs during long trips.

Intuitive seat adjustment buttons attached to the armrest make it easy to control the seating position and power slide, while smartphone-style touch-type controllers provided individually for both sides of the second row manage air conditioning, lighting, sunshades, audio, and seat functions.

Furthermore, features such as ▲ power legrests ▲ air pressure-based massage functions ▲ reclining capabilities ▲ folding tables integrated into the armrest ▲ second-row air curtains enhance the premium experience, while the large central overhead console’s reading lights and window switches, and versatile open storage spaces reflect Alphard’s meticulous design. A ‘Smart Comfort Mode’ allows passengers to customize the interior atmosphere, with automatic adjustments to lighting, air conditioning, and seat positions based on the selected mode.

The second-row seats can slide back up to 480mm and are equipped with both electric power slide and manual slide functions, making adjusting the second-row seat position quick and convenient for easy access to the third row. The third-row space ensures comfortable seating with reclining functions and armrests, and the seats can be lifted to create additional cargo space.

The Alphard delivers an exceptional driving experience, implementing a TNGA-K (Toyota New Global Architecture-K) platform that improves body rigidity and integrates noise and vibration (NVH) reduction technologies. Toyota’s first-use of vibration-damping rubber bushings in the second-row seat cushion frame minimizes lateral movements while Pitch Body Control reduces vertical oscillations of the vehicle body, easing passenger fatigue over long drives and maintaining a comfortable ride.

Moreover, a frequency-responsive shock absorber adjusts the damping force based on road irregularities to provide a smoother ride. Additional features include ▲ acoustic glass applied to the windshield and front and second-row side windows ▲ double-sealed sliding doors, minimizing external noise intrusion.

The Alphard is built on a 2.5-liter hybrid (HEV) powertrain, maximizing fuel efficiency and quietness. It combines a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor to deliver a total system output of 250 horsepower, achieving a combined fuel efficiency of 13.5 km/L. Additionally, the E-Four all-wheel-drive system enhances driving stability on wet or rough surfaces by utilizing front and rear motors based on road conditions.

The Alphard is equipped with various convenience features to assist the driver during their journey.

The large 12.3-inch full-color multi-information display and 14-inch center display allow for clear and intuitive operation, integrating various infotainment functions including navigation and Toyota Connect.

Moreover, features such as ▲ JBL premium audio system with 15 speakers and 12-channel amplifier ▲ head-up display (HUD) ▲ panoramic view monitor and digital rearview mirror ▲ one-touch wide-opening sliding doors ▲ electric power back door that can be operated with a button located on the lower side of the rear combination lamps ▲ independent electric panorama moonroof further enhance the premium experience suitable for a luxury minivan. Additionally, the preventive safety system, ‘Toyota Safety Sense (TSS)’ supports safe driving.

The Toyota Alphard is sold with a single 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain, priced at 99.2 million won (including a 5% individual consumption tax).

Mr. Kang Dae-hwan, Executive Director of Toyota Korea, stated, “Alphard is a premium minivan designed with various situations in mind to ensure customer satisfaction, considering even the smallest details. We aim to propose a new value in mobility and space, whether for official duties, family trips, or leisure activities, as our customers desire.”
