The Ray EV, an electric vehicle packed with various safety and convenience features, is making headlines for its cost-effectiveness priced in the 20 million won range.

The Ray EV began accepting pre-orders on the 23rd of last month and is the electrified version of the existing Ray. By September of this year, the Ray has recorded sales of 33,801 units, surpassing the Casper, which sold 28,376 units, and the Morning with 17,843 units sold, making it a definitive flagship model in the compact car market. Now, the Ray has knocked on the market door with the Ray EV.

Equipped with a 35.2KWh lithium iron phosphate battery, the Ray EV can travel up to 233 km. It achieves an efficiency of 5.1 km per KWh based on 14-inch tires. When the battery reaches 10% remaining, it can charge to 80% in just 40 minutes using a 150KWh fast charger, and can be fully charged in 6 hours with a 7KWh level 2 charger.

The Ray EV showcases a power performance of 87 horsepower and 15.0 kg.m of torque, representing a 15% increase in power and a 55% increase in torque compared to the gasoline model’s 76 horsepower and 9.7 kg.m. It boasts smooth and strong performance.

The price is also reasonable. For the four-seat version, it is priced at 27.75 million won for the Light trim and 29.55 million won for the Air trim. There are also subsidies available. Based on Seoul’s standards, the Ray EV can receive 5.12 million won in national subsidies and 1.35 million won in local subsidies, for a total of 6.47 million won in support. If a customer residing in Seoul purchases the Ray EV Light trim, it can be acquired for 21.28 million won, placing it in the low 20 million won range for an electric passenger car.

A representative from Kia’s domestic headquarters stated, “The Ray EV is a cost-effective electric vehicle model compared to existing high-priced electric cars, and we are seeing a positive response from customers. The Ray EV will be the electric car for rational customers pursuing value in this new era,” expressing confidence in the product.
