The Lamborghini-organized single-make race, Super Trofeo Asia Series Round 5, took place from September 8 (Friday) to 10 (Sunday) at the Shanghai International Circuit in China. The dynamic duo of Marco Gilttrap and Chris van der Drift from Absolute Racing showcased an overwhelming performance, winning both Race 1 and Race 2, securing their spot in the Grand Final regardless of the final round outcomes.
Drivers Lee Chang-woo and Kwon Hyung-jin from SQDA-Grit Motorsports secured 2nd place in the AM class for both Races 1 and 2. They previously led the season with a 4-point advantage over Anwat Rommhatthi and Phasarit Promsombat, but after giving up wins in this round, they fell to 2nd place by a narrow 3-point margin. The fates of these two fiercely competing teams will be decided in the final round.
The Pro class of the Super Trofeo Asia Series, which has demonstrated explosive abilities in past races, saw Marco Gilttrap and Chris van der Drift from Absolute Racing once again finish as the overall winners in both Races 1 and 2 during Round 3 at Fuji.
In the PRO-AM class, Chiang Li and Jonathan Secotto claimed victory in Race 1, while Oscar Li and Dan Wells alternated wins in Race 2. Oscar Li and Dan Wells solidified their progression to the Grand Final by widening their gap to the second place based on this round’s performance.
In the Lamborghini Cup class, Supachai leads with a total of 120 points, followed by Kuma Prabhakaran trailing by 12 points in 2nd, and Dr. Ma in 3rd place, 22 points behind, all looking to reverse fortunes in the final round.
Meanwhile, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo is gearing up for its final round and Grand Final of the Asia Series. The last round, Round 6, will take place on November 16 (Thursday) and 17 (Friday) in Bellagio, Italy. The Grand Final race will follow at the same venue from November 18 (Saturday) to 19 (Sunday), marking the conclusion of the Super Trofeo Series.
The Super Trofeo Series is a Lamborghini single-make racing competition held across three continents: Europe, North America, and Asia. Participants compete exclusively in the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 model.
