Volvo Cars Korea has launched the ‘S60 Dark Edition’ in a limited run of 55 units, with sales commencing on October 17 at 10 AM (KST) through the Volvo digital shop.

The S60, alongside the globally bestselling XC60, is a key model targeting the mid-size premium segment. Designed for customers seeking an exhilarating driving experience, this mid-size dynamic sedan features a sporty silhouette influenced by its dynamic performance and offers remarkable response and control. It stands out as a model embodying reasonable luxury trends, equipped with flagship-level advanced convenience and safety features typically found in sedans around the 50 million KRW mark.

The S60 Dark Edition is the second limited edition model launched this year, following the ‘XC40 Sage Green’ edition, which sold out within three minutes after pre-orders began last July. Based on the ultimate dark trim, this model differentiates itself from existing models with high-gloss black detailing and new advanced connectivity services that are evolving into smart cars.

The exterior is finished in a single color of Onyx Black Metallic and includes a front horizontal mesh grille with high-gloss black inserts, a new bumper design, and uniquely glossy black stone frameless door mirrors.

In addition, the model incorporates high-gloss black side window frames and new 19-inch 5-triple spoke black diamond-cut wheels contrasting aluminum and black paint, emphasizing sculpted sides and a bold stance. The dark edition exclusive key case made of blonde leather and black leather enhances the emotional quality of the vehicle.

The interior features a harmonious blend of drift wood with the natural texture of wood and Scandinavian Øreporos crystal gear knob, finished in blonde napa leather. The seats, designed for supreme comfort, are equipped with powered lumbar support, cushion extension, powered side support, massage, and ventilation features that enhance the joy of driving.

This model provides a quiet driving environment with dual laminated windows and an air purification system that can prevent the influx of ultra-fine dust (PM 2.5) and pollen by up to 95%. Additionally, it comes standard with the premium Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) sound system, providing class-leading convenience features.

The powertrain comprises a B5 MHEV engine producing 250 horsepower and 35.7 kg·m of torque, paired with an 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission that offers optimal engine responsiveness and fuel efficiency. Notably, it features upgraded sports suspension, designed to enhance road grip and control during cornering with sturdier shock absorption devices and springs.

Moreover, the model provides an immersive driving experience through the head-up display (HUD), central 12.3-inch digital display instrument cluster, and the integrated infotainment system TMAP 2.0. This setup offers more advanced safety and personalized mobility experiences.

The evolved TMAP navigation system supports connected driving services based on Seoul’s next-generation Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS), providing real-time signal information, remaining signal times, and optimal speed for crossing intersections. It also includes various infotainment services, such as navigation and information searches via voice command (Aria), music playback, and easy access to primary vehicle functions, phone, messages, and smart home control via NUGU. Furthermore, a ‘personalized routine setup’ is supported, automating indoor temperature settings and music playback based on daily and hourly usage history or settings.

Additionally, various third-party apps are available through the TMAP store, offering news, audiobooks, stock information, as well as web surfing and video viewing in full screen. The ‘Hej, Volvo’ brand application facilitates real-time reservations for vehicle management and service centers. Future updates will include OTT services for watching terrestrial TV, latest movies, dramas, and variety shows, along with In-Car Payment options for fueling payments.

Lee Yun-mo, CEO of Volvo Cars Korea, stated, “We have prepared a limited edition model of the S60 for customers who seek the joy of dynamic driving and the new value of luxury. We hope you will experience the charm of the new Volvo through the personalization and advanced connectivity that feels connected to the road and the emotional quality that a limited edition possesses.”

The price of the S60 Dark Edition is set at 56.4 million KRW (including VAT), and it comes with a 5-year or 100,000 km free warranty and consumable replacement service based on the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) sensor platform, 5 years of LTE data, and a 1-year FLO membership, along with 15 years of OTA wireless updates. Sales will begin on October 17 at 10 AM through the Volvo digital shop, with immediate delivery available based on the order of contracts. Additionally, it can be viewed at a special exhibition held from September 26 to October 17 at Starfield, Goyang, and Hanam.
