Ford has unveiled its latest racing model, the Mustang Dark Horse R.
This Dark Horse R is based on the Mustang Dark Horse, like the previously revealed racing models GT3 and GT4. The vehicle is equipped with a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine that delivers 500 horsepower, a Tremec 3160 six-speed manual transmission, a Torsen limited-slip differential with a final drive ratio of 3.73, and Brembo rear brake calipers and rotors.
Additionally, various features aimed at racing performance have been included, such as an upgraded oil and cooling system, a Borla exhaust system, Multimatic DSSV racing dampers, and adjustable anti-roll bars. Inside, you’ll find Recaro FIA racing seats, Sparco harnesses, a quick-release steering wheel, safety nets, a data logging system, and a fuel cell.
The Mustang Dark Horse R has received IMSA approval and is set to participate in 10 to 12 North American racing events across 5 or 6 tracks, starting in 2024.
