The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L have received the highest rating of ‘Top Safety Pick Plus’ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The IIHS is a reputable organization that evaluates crash safety performance and crash avoidance performance of vehicles released in the US market every year.

In this evaluation, the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L received the highest safety rating of ‘Good’ across four categories: driver’s side small overlap, passenger side small overlap, frontal crash, and side crash, thus being selected as ‘Top Safety Pick Plus.’

The Grand Cherokee lineup has standard full-speed forward collision warning and emergency braking systems across all trims, as well as a pedestrian/bicycle detection emergency braking system, earning ‘Good’ in daytime pedestrian evaluation and ‘Exceptional’ in nighttime evaluation.

In the headlight evaluation, the premium LED headlights received a ‘Acceptable’ grade, but when the high beam assist feature was activated, they received a ‘Good’ rating, fulfilling all essential requirements for the ‘Top Safety Pick Plus.’

Staying true to its reputation as a premium SUV, the Grand Cherokee lineup is equipped with over 110 driving safety features. Standard features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and active lane management provide exceptional safety for the driver.

The top trim, Summit Reserve, features an active driving assist system that combines adaptive cruise control stop and active lane management system, achieving Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, along with ParkSense parallel/perpendicular parking and exit assist system (including braking), intersection collision avoidance assist, traffic sign recognition system, driver drowsiness detection system, and a night vision camera system detecting animals and people.

Additionally, Jeep stands out with the luxury Hi-Fi audio brand ‘McIntosh,’ which has designed a sound system exclusive to the Grand Cherokee, providing the best sound in its class through 19 speakers.

In South Korea, the Grand Cherokee is equipped with ‘Uconnect T-map navigation’ for locals, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is also standard, enhancing connectivity for drivers. Furthermore, the 7-seater Grand Cherokee L Overland trim recently benefits from the government’s eased criteria for large families, allowing families with just two children to enjoy exemptions or reductions in vehicle acquisition tax.

Jim Morrison, the North American Vice President of the Jeep brand, stated, “The Jeep Grand Cherokee maintains its reputation as the ‘most awarded SUV of all time’ by achieving the highest safety rating of ‘Top Safety Pick Plus’ from IIHS, instilling confidence in customers with its superior safety technologies and exceptional driving capabilities in extreme conditions, while offering a wider selection with its second and third-row models.”

Meanwhile, Jeep unveiled the ‘Grand Cherokee L,’ the first premium SUV with a third row in Asia, on November 3, 2021, and completed its luxury flagship SUV lineup with the release of the ‘Grand Cherokee’ second-row model and the electrified ‘Grand Cherokee 4xe’ in December 2022.
