Hyundai Motor and Kia are conducting a special free safety inspection service for electric vehicles in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.

This special free safety inspection service for electric vehicles is part of the activities of the “Public-Private TF for Safe Electric Vehicle Use,” which was launched in February with the participation of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, automotive and battery manufacturers, and relevant experts. This initiative is being conducted by major automotive manufacturers both domestically and internationally, including Hyundai and Kia.

From the 4th of this month until January 1st next year, Hyundai and Kia will provide electric vehicle owners with a free inspection of key maintenance items for their electric vehicles.

The eligible models are Hyundai’s five types (Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Ioniq Electric, Porter II Electric), Kia’s seven types (Ray EV, Soul Booster EV, EV6, Niro/Niro Plus EV, The All-New Niro, Bongo III EV, Soul EV), and Genesis’s three types (G80 Electric Model, GV70 Electric Model, GV60). (Note: some commercial electric vehicles are excluded.)

The inspection items include ▲ high-voltage battery (insulation resistance, voltage deviation, etc.) ▲ air-cooled cooling system ▲ liquid-cooled cooling system ▲ vehicle underbody impact and damage assessment ▲ damage assessment of connecting cables and connectors ▲ vehicle fault code diagnostics, among others.

Customers who wish to have their vehicles inspected can reserve a designated appointment for their model via the unified customer service applications or websites of MyHyundai, MyKia, and MyGenesis, or through customer service centers, and then visit a direct service center or authorized service partner for the inspection. The inspection is expected to take about 25 minutes.

A representative from Hyundai and Kia stated, “We hope that this free electric vehicle inspection will enable customers to use electric vehicles more safely and comfortably,” and added, “We will continue to strive to enhance the convenience for electric vehicle customers in the future.”
