Tesla Korea has officially launched the rear-wheel drive Model Y in the country.

The Model Y is Tesla’s mid-size electric SUV, and the newly released RWD model boasts a maximum range of 350 km under Korean certification standards. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 217 km/h. The vehicle comes equipped with the Autopilot driving assistance feature as standard, providing a safe and comfortable driving experience. The seating configuration is for five passengers, offering a generous cargo capacity of up to 2,158 liters.

With its simple and clean interior, the Model Y allows access to all vehicle functions through a 15-inch touchscreen. The elevated seating position and low dashboard enhance forward visibility, while the extended glass roof provides a sky view and an open feeling inside the cabin.

Engineered with safety as a priority, the Model Y excels in safety ratings as well. It has received top safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the European New Car Assessment Program.

The Model Y is gaining worldwide popularity as a family car, praised for its safety, quality, and practicality. Tesla CEO Elon Musk confidently stated during the Q1 shareholder meeting that the Model Y is expected to become the best-selling car in the world in 2023. Indeed, in the first quarter, the Model Y achieved the highest global sales, surpassing internal combustion engine vehicles as the first electric car to do so.

The newly launched Model Y RWD is attractively priced starting at 56,990,000 KRW. With subsidies, it can be purchased for around the mid-40 million KRW range, or just over 50 million KRW before subsidies. Additionally, by applying the Tesla referral program benefits, customers can receive an additional discount of 660,000 KRW, making the Model Y a compelling choice for consumers considering a family car or their first electric vehicle. Tesla Korea anticipates that while the Model 3 paved the way for the popularization of electric vehicles, the Model Y will drive the growth of the domestic electric vehicle market with its reasonable pricing.

Orders for the Model Y can be placed through the Tesla website, with anticipated delivery in the third quarter of 2023. Test drives will begin at Tesla stores nationwide in July.

Meanwhile, Tesla Korea is running a touchless test drive program that allows users to experience driving freely without an advisor. By joining the newly launched EWI (Extended Warranty Insurance) program in July, customers can receive warranty coverage for up to 8 years or 160,000 km.
