The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee conducted a week-long visit to its headquarters in Germany for 11 outstanding students from the 16th class of the ‘Mercedes-Benz Mobile Academy’.

This visit is part of the ‘Mobile Academy’ program, an industry-academia collaboration initiative designed for university students in automotive studies in South Korea. The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee selects excellent students from each class to experience advanced automotive facilities and explore future career opportunities.

This year’s visit included an opportunity to tour the new Mercedes-Benz manufacturing facility. Participating students visited ▲ the ‘Factory 56’, a smart factory established in 2020 in Sindelfingen, to explore the future-oriented carbon-neutral production facility and the latest digital processes. They also visited the ‘AMG Factory’, where high-performance luxury cars are produced, observing skilled artisans as they crafted engines and exploring various roles within Mercedes-Benz.

Additionally, the students experienced an augmented reality-based cutting-edge training system at the global training center at headquarters, and they had the chance to immerse themselves in over 130 years of innovation through the Mercedes-Benz museum, showcasing the brand’s technological prowess and heritage.

Kim Ki-tae, a student from Inha Technical College participating in this headquarters visit, expressed, “Hearing that Mercedes-Benz has been operating a global training center for the past 20 years in response to the paradigm shifts in the automotive market made me feel their genuine commitment to developing professionals.” He added, “Based on the valuable experiences from this headquarters visit, I reaffirm my determination to grow into the best automotive expert worthy of the Mercedes-Benz brand.”

Stephan Albrecht, a committee member of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, stated, “I hope this visit to the Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany will serve as good nourishment for our domestic automotive talents to grow into experts recognized in the global market.” He further mentioned, “We will continue to strive for the ongoing development of the Mobile Academy program to nurture more global automotive talents.”

Meanwhile, this visit was resumed after being paused for approximately three years due to COVID-19, and since the inaugural class in 2014, a total of 1,610 students have graduated from the ‘Mobile Academy’, with 151 outstanding students provided with the opportunity to visit the German headquarters.
