“Did something urgent come up during your drive? Socar is here to help you return the car!”

Socar has added a feature that allows users to change their return location even after booking, enhancing the one-way service.

If your schedule changes unexpectedly while using Socar and you can’t return the vehicle to the planned location, you can now change the return location to wherever you wish. This can be done as long as the reserved vehicle is eligible for one-way service or there is no following reservation, meaning you can change your return location regardless of whether you’re using round trip, call service, or one-way service.

When the one-way service switch and location change are possible, the ‘Change Return Location’ button will be activated on the smart key screen or usage history in the Socar app. By selecting this button, customers can view the changeable return areas on a map, along with a list of recommended parking lots and operational information provided by Socar.

For round trips and Socar one-way rentals, as long as the return location is within a 70km straight-line distance from the Socar zone where you rented the vehicle, you can set any location as the return point. If you used a call service, you can change your return location anywhere in the nationwide area where the call service is available, without distance limitations.

The service fee consists of a basic fee and a distance fee between the original and new return locations. The basic fee is 10,000 won for round trip services and 3,000 won for one-way and call services. You also bear an additional distance fee of 1,000 won per kilometer between the new and old return locations. Socar will cover all parking fees incurred at the changed return location.

In order to allow more customers to experience the new service, Socar will run an event offering a 50% discount on usage fees for the ‘one-way after reservation’ service, up to 10,000 won, until August 12.

For example, if a customer rents a Socar vehicle for a round trip (returning to Gangnam Station) and suddenly has evening plans in Pangyo during a work trip, they no longer need to return the vehicle to Gangnam Station. Instead, they can change the return location to a nearby parking lot and return the vehicle there. In this case, the total charge would be 23,000 won, which includes the basic service fee of 10,000 won plus an additional fee based on the distance (13km) from the Gangnam Station Socar zone to the parking lot in Pangyo (1,000 won/km).

Jang Hyuk, Director of Business Growth at Socar, stated, “The one-way service is truly possible because it is Socar, not your car, and it is expected to deliver new value that cannot be enjoyed with personal vehicles. We will continue to strive to provide a flexible and burdens-free car-sharing service tailored to our customers’ diverse circumstances.”
