Hyundai Motor’s Sales Director Kim Gi-yang (aged 56) achieved cumulative sales of 6,000 units as of July 5, 2023.

Achieving 6,000 cumulative sales is a remarkable record, as only seven individuals, including Kim Gi-yang, have reached this milestone since Hyundai implemented its sales honor award program.

The sales honor award system grants titles and prizes for cumulative sales: ‘Sales Artisan’ at 2,000 units, ‘Sales Master’ at 3,000 units, ‘Sales Expert’ at 4,000 units, and ‘Sales Maestro’ at 5,000 units.

Kim Gi-yang has accomplished this significant achievement after 32 years in the sales field since joining Hyundai in 1991. Previously, in March 2021, he had already been awarded the title of ‘Sales Maestro’ after reaching 5,000 cumulative sales.

Kim stated, “I got to this point through my greatest strengths of diligence and sincerity,” and expressed gratitude to the more than 6,000 customers who have trusted and sought his expertise.

He identified professionalism as his key to sales success, saying, “Helping customers make wise choices is at the core of sales and the shortcut to customer satisfaction.” He emphasized that rather than merely selling good, expensive, or new cars, recommending vehicles tailored to the customer’s preferences and situations has been his unique sales strategy.

He added, “The trust each customer has shown me has been my motivation to work. I will continue to strive to repay the trust I have received.”

Hyundai also operates various award systems, including national sales king and The Class Awards, to encourage employees performing their best in sales and promote healthy competition.

The ‘National Sales King’ and ‘The Class Awards’ are events that recognize outstanding annual sales employees. The ‘National Sales King’ recognizes the top 1-10 employees based on total annual sales, while ‘The Class Awards’ grants prizes based on segmented sales performance.

A Hyundai official stated, “We plan to continue our diverse award systems to motivate sales staff and encourage healthy competition among employees.”
