Kakao Mobility announced on the 26th its participation in the ‘Digital Service Opening Leading Service’ organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. As a result, services that were previously available only on public platforms, such as SRT ticket booking, vehicle inspection scheduling, and travel time predictions at Incheon Airport, can now be accessed through the ‘Kakao T’ app.

The ‘Digital Service Opening Leading Service’ is one of the key projects of the Digital Platform Government implementation plan promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to create an innovative ecosystem based on public-private cooperation.

Kakao Mobility is leveraging its know-how from operating the complete MaaS app ‘Kakao T’ to support ▲ SRT ticket booking ▲ vehicle inspection scheduling ▲ travel time prediction services at Incheon Airport. As a leading mobility platform company in Korea, it aspires to contribute to user convenience by participating in the integration of all mobility-related services among the four public services that will be opened to the private sector.

Starting from the 27th, ‘Kakao T’ will introduce SRT train reservations and ticketing services.

‘Kakao T Train’ has been providing reservation services for all types of trains operated by Korail through a business agreement with Korea Railroad in 2021. Previously, it only provided train operation information for SRT, but the participation in the ‘Digital Service Opening Leading Service’ has expanded the range of services offered.

Users can easily access the service by pressing the ‘train’ icon in the home or travel tab of ‘Kakao T’, entering their departure and arrival destinations, and receiving automatic recommendations for everything from train station guidance to the optimal route for their entire journey.

The ‘Kakao T’ platform uniquely supports seamless exploration of routes for all trains operating within the country, as well as booking and ticketing in one go, including transit between departure/arrival points and train stations.

This service is available to anyone who is a member of the Kakao T app and is offered at the same fare as the existing train fares without any additional booking fees. Payment can be easily made through pre-registered cards in the Kakao T app, providing further convenience.

Kakao Mobility is also launching a ‘vehicle inspection booking service’ for users who own personal vehicles. This service can be accessed through both the ‘Kakao T’ and ‘Kakao Navi’ apps.

Regular vehicle inspections are mandatory for all vehicle owners under the Air Quality Preservation Act and Noise and Vibration Management Act. Historically, vehicle owners could only check their eligibility for inspection and make reservations through the TS Cyber Inspection website of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.

Various convenience functions have been introduced regarding vehicle inspection bookings. By registering their vehicles in the ‘Kakao T’ or ‘Kakao Navi’ apps, users can receive ▲ notifications of inspection eligibility ▲ reservations at the nearest inspection center ▲ exploration of location information for inspection centers ▲ and payment all in one go. Notably, the ▲ vacancy notification option for canceled previous appointments and ▲ inspection agency services are unique features only offered by Kakao T and Kakao Navi.

Meanwhile, a travel time prediction service for Incheon Airport is also being prepared for launch by the end of the year. This service aims to predict and guide the time required for various routes, including Incheon International Airport parking lots, check-in counters, departure lounges, security checkpoints, duty-free shops, and gates.

Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-seon expressed, “I am pleased to contribute to increasing access to public services for Kakao T and Kakao Navi users through participation in this Digital Service Opening Leading Service,” and added, “We will strive to continuously enhance additional functions beyond simply improving service accessibility.”
