The GM Korea Foundation has taken the lead in creating a sustainable community environment by supporting the donation of Bolt EV electric vehicles and the installation of charging stations.

In relation to this initiative, the foundation held an electric vehicle donation ceremony and charging station unveiling event on the 17th at Butterfly Park in Bupyeong District, Incheon. Roberto Rempel, President and CEO of GM Korea, Brian McMurray, President of R&D, Yoon Myung-ok, Secretary General of the Foundation, Cha Jun-taek, Mayor of Bupyeong, Lee Byeong-cheol, Head of the Bupyeong Volunteer Center, along with key executives from GM Korea and employee volunteers attended the event.

One Bolt EV will be delivered to the Bupyeong Volunteer Center, which actively carries out volunteer activities in the community, supporting environmental improvement efforts together with citizens in the region. Additionally, the project anticipates contributing to establishing eco-friendly infrastructure by supporting the installation of a charging station in Butterfly Park, a representative public facility in the area.

The senior executives and employee volunteers from GM Korea who attended the event signed a collaborative agreement with the Bupyeong District and the Bupyeong Volunteer Center for park beautification and actively engaged in planting flowers and saplings at Butterfly Park as part of their community environmental improvement efforts.

Roberto Rempel stated, “The donation of electric vehicles and the support for the installation of charging stations is part of GM’s efforts to achieve zero carbon emissions in collaboration with the community and to move forward toward electrification. I hope this donation will contribute to creating a sustainable environment in the community,” he said.

Brian McMurray commented, “It is very encouraging to be able to lead community environmental improvement activities through GM’s donation of electric vehicles and charging stations. GM will continue to engage in proactive activities related to the environment to achieve our three zero vision and environmental sustainability,” he said.

Cha Jun-taek, Mayor of Bupyeong, expressed, “We are pleased to work on community environmental improvement activities in partnership with GM, which is taking the lead in creating a sustainable environment. We will continue to put in effort to provide a cleaner and more stable environment for future generations,” he stated.

Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2005, the Hanmaeum Foundation has continued various social contribution activities aimed at stabilizing the lives of vulnerable groups in the community and improving the community. In particular, the foundation is actively launching various community support projects to achieve GM’s triple zero vision (zero traffic accidents, zero carbon emissions, and zero traffic congestion), and this environmental improvement activity is part of GM’s proactive initiatives to achieve zero carbon emissions.
