Peugeot’s electrification project has been unveiled: ‘e-lion’. Through the e-lion project, Peugeot will accelerate its path to carbon neutrality by 2038.

Stellantis Korea held a ‘Peugeot Brand Day’ on the 24th at Kunst Halle in Gangnam, Seoul, where they announced their domestic market strategy. The event featured Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson and Peugeot’s Global Director of Design, Matthias Hossan.

During the announcement, Linda Jackson emphasized, “Peugeot electric vehicles have sold over 250,000 units worldwide, ranking in the top 5.” Furthermore, she stated, “Peugeot will demonstrate a strategy that thrives in a changing world.” This is the ‘e-Lion’ strategy, which can be described through Ecosystem, Experience, Electrification, Efficiency, and Environment. It aims to build an ecosystem of products and services while allowing customers to experience an end-to-end service that includes Peugeot’s charging and connectivity by 2025, achieving 100% electrification in the lineup, and maximizing the driving range of electric vehicles to enhance efficiency. Sustainability is defined through the establishment of a carbon-neutral environment by 2038.

Proving this ambition, the electric concept vehicle ‘Inception’ made an appearance at the event, garnering considerable attention. The glass surface extending from the front to the roof and the rear captivated onlookers. The front fascia features the all-new Peugeot signature light, integrated with three iconic claws. It beautifully reinterprets Peugeot’s signature lion-like appearance to suit a new era.

Inception is built on Stellantis’s new electric vehicle dedicated architecture, utilizing the BEV-by-design platform. It is equipped with an 800V system and a 100kWh battery, allowing it to travel over 800km on a full charge. Its efficiency stands out at 12.5kWh per 100km. It can charge enough to drive 150km in just 5 minutes.

Additionally, Inception comes with a Level 4 autonomous driving system. This replaces the conventional i-Cockpit with a hyper square control system in place of the steering wheel. The hyper square control is managed through circular modules located at each corner, incorporating Stellantis’s STLA Smart Cockpit technology, which displays information about pedestrians approaching from every direction.

The model introducing the new design language and hyper square control will be launched in 2025, while vehicles equipped with the hyper square control are set for release in 2026.
