The McLaren Artura’s race car version, the Artura GT4, achieved remarkable success during the ‘British GT Championship’ season opener weekend from April 8 to 10 at the Oulton Park in the UK. The Artura GT4 secured two pole positions and dominated the podium in the second race, proving its superiority in the GT4 category.

Previously, the Artura GT4 made a stunning debut at the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race held in Daytona, USA, earlier this year.

Initially, in the first race of Oulton Park, the GT4 showcased excellent performance under the banner of Optimum Motorsport and clinched the first pole position. Two racers, Jack Brown and Charles Clark, consistently led the way during both one-hour qualifying sessions.

The strength of the Artura GT4 shone even brighter in the wet conditions of the second race. Leading racers Ian Gough and Tom Rigley achieved a one-two-three finish, leading Jack Brown and Charles Clark from Optimum Motorsport, as well as Josh Rollidge from DTO Motorsport and Aston Miller, the new driver from the McLaren Academy.

The Artura GT4 is built on a very lightweight and robust platform within the GT4 class, and it is a specially developed race car that can be easily handled by both amateur drivers and race mechanics.

A total of 36 race cars participated in the event. Among them, McLaren supplied a total of 15 cars, including the GT4 and the 720S GT3, achieving notable successes, including podium finishes for both the McLaren GT4 and the 720S GT3 in the GT3 class.

Ian Morgan, Director of McLaren Automotive Motorsport, stated, “The Artura GT4 has already achieved remarkable results since its debut season in Daytona, USA. We send our congratulations to RaceLab, Optimum Motorsport, and DTO Motorsport for showcasing excellent performance once again in the British GT Championship season. The drivers of the McLaren 720S GT3 also performed admirably in the races, allowing McLaren Motorsport to enjoy a fruitful weekend. We are very proud to have supported 15 of the 36 race cars in attendance.”

The Artura GT4, which achieved record results at the British GT Championship season opener, is rapidly emerging as the representative model of the GT4 Championship, while anticipation builds for the hybrid supercar Artura.

This connection exists because the Artura and GT4 share similarities. Both models are equipped with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine and feature McLaren’s carbon lightweight architecture.

Meanwhile, the latest high-tech hybrid supercar from McLaren, the Artura, is powered by a hybrid powertrain combining an engine and motor, achieving a maximum output of 680 horsepower and allowing for a pure EV driving range of up to 30km. With the powerful performance of a supercar and plug-in hybrid capabilities, the McLaren Artura can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h.
