Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands have won a total of five awards at the prestigious global design competitions, the ‘Red Dot Award’ and the ‘Car Design Award.’

The Hyundai Motor Group received four ‘Honorable Mentions’ at the ‘2023 Red Dot Award: Product Design,’ organized by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.

The All-New Grandeur from Hyundai was recognized in the ‘Transportation Design’ category, while the E-pit Ultra-Fast Charger won an award in the ‘Urban Design’ category.

The All-New Grandeur, launched last November, features a design that expresses a significant transition in future mobility based on heritage, enhanced with high-tech details.

Its futuristic and grand exterior presence is accentuated by the ‘seamlessly connected horizontal LED lamps,’ while the wrap-around interior space provides comfort and modern elegance, embodying the flagship sedan image of the Grandeur.

The E-pit Ultra-Fast Charger, designed with a ‘human-centric’ theme, has been highly praised for putting customers first with its design solutions, earning it recognition again this year following its ‘Honorable Mention’ in the 2021 Red Dot Award.

This urban E-pit Ultra-Fast Charger has a compact design that harmonizes well with various urban environments such as roadside areas and above/below-ground parking lots.

Kia’s Niro Plug-in Hybrid won the Red Dot Award in the transportation design category.

The Niro Plug-in Hybrid embodies Kia’s brand design philosophy of ‘Opposite United,’ showcasing creativity through the fusion of contrasting concepts, while achieving a sophisticated design and innovative use of eco-friendly materials.

The Genesis G90, the brand’s flagship model, also received the award in the same category, reflecting the Genesis design identity of ‘dynamic elegance’ with its refined exterior.

Additionally, Genesis’s first convertible concept, the X Convertible, has been recognized for its design excellence as the ‘Car of the Year Concept’ at the ‘Car Design Award 2023’ hosted by the Italian automotive and industrial design magazine ‘Auto & Design.’

The X Convertible is the third model in the ‘X Concept Series,’ following the ‘X’ and ‘X Speedium Coupe’ unveiled in March 2021 and April 2022, respectively, encapsulating Genesis’s design philosophy and inspiration for the future.

Utilizing the characteristics of a retractable convertible roof and a low-noise electric vehicle, it embodies the Genesis design philosophy of ‘driver experience in harmony with the natural environment,’ while showcasing refined luxury through elegantly placed clean lines and exquisite curves.

A representative from Hyundai Motor Group stated, “This recognition is the result of the passion and efforts of our designers and engineers to realize world-class design competitiveness, and we will continue to present differentiated designs for future mobility to provide customers with new experiences and values.”

The ‘Red Dot Design Award’ is considered one of the world’s most prestigious design awards, alongside Germany’s iF Design Award and America’s IDEA. It annually categorizes awards into product design, communication design, and concept design, determining winners based on various core evaluation criteria, including innovation and functionality.

This year, the Red Dot Awards featured over 7,900 entries from 60 countries worldwide.
