Jaguar secured its first-ever 1st and 2nd place finish in team history at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship held in Berlin. Mitch Evans achieved back-to-back wins after his victory at the São Paulo E-Prix, while Sam Bird finished second, marking his third podium of the season and setting a personal record.

In March, during the São Paulo E-Prix, Mitch Evans started from the third grid and climbed to the lead on the 35th lap, maintaining a strong energy strategy. Sam Bird started in the 10th grid and finished in 3rd place, climbing seven spots and recording the fastest lap to earn extra points. As a result of this race, the Jaguar TCS Racing team accumulated 41 points and surged to 3rd place in the team standings.

The subsequent Round 7 Berlin E-Prix was filled with excitement from start to finish. Sam Bird advanced to the qualifying dual final, where he was assigned to the front grid.

In the final race, Sam Bird clocked a time of 1:05.975 seconds, taking the lead in Group B, but finished second behind Sébastien Buemi from the Envision team, which is equipped with Jaguar powertrains. Mitch Evans narrowly missed the dual by just 0.006 seconds, finishing 5th in Group A before being assigned to the 9th grid.

In the early stages of the race, known for its tight competition, Mitch Evans managed the race efficiently by conserving energy and avoiding trouble. He took the lead four times at the Tempelhof Circuit while collaborating with Sam Bird to maximize their efficiency.

Mitch Evans surpassed all eight preceding drivers to finish in 1st place, followed by Sam Bird in 2nd place. In a race where energy efficiency and slipstream utilization are crucial, the Jaguar TCS Racing team executed a perfect strategy utilizing the outstanding speed and efficiency of the Jaguar I-TYPE 6.

After completing the first eight races, the Jaguar TCS Racing team maintains a position in 3rd place in the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship standings, closing the point gap to the leader.

James Barclay, representative of the Jaguar TCS Racing team, commented, “This was an incredible race as we secured our first-ever simultaneous 1st and 2nd places in Jaguar TCS Racing history. With Sam Bird starting from the front grid and Mitch Evans from the 9th grid, a smart strategy was essential. We maintained our composure and collaborated effectively to make progress throughout the race. This outcome was made possible by the tremendous efforts of the entire team and the sharp decision-making to make the right choices at the right times during challenging racing situations, along with the remarkable performance of the Jaguar I-TYPE that allowed us to execute them successfully.”

The Jaguar TCS Racing team is preparing for Round 9 of the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which will take place next month on the 6th in Monaco.
