McLaren unveils the ‘McLaren 750S’. The 750S comes in two models: Coupe and Spider.

The McLaren 750S is a successor to the 720S, showcasing an unparalleled combination of lightweight carbon fiber technology, powerful output, and aerodynamic prowess. It boasts the highest performance among McLaren’s production models, meticulously crafted to elevate the driving experience to its limits. Following an in-depth analysis of its predecessor, McLaren replaced approximately 30% of the components, resulting in a lighter, faster, and more powerful 750S.

In line with its title of possessing exceptional driving performance in McLaren’s history, the 750S is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine and a 7-speed transmission, generating a maximum output of 750 horsepower with a peak torque of 800Nm (European standards), achieving an astonishing power-to-weight ratio of 587 horsepower per ton. This figure surpasses that of the legendary McLaren P1, often remembered for its 737 horsepower and 720Nm of torque.

The remarkable driving capabilities can be confirmed by the records. Both Coupe and Spider reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and 0 to 200 km/h in 7.2 seconds (7.3 seconds for the 750S Spider). Their top speeds reach 332 km/h.

McLaren’s unique lightweight technology shines even brighter in the 750S. The Coupe’s dry weight stands at 1,277kg, making it 193kg lighter than competitors in the same class. It is even lighter than the historically lightest McLaren, the 720S (dry weight 1,283kg).

The key factor enabling this lightweight construction is the extensive use of carbon fiber throughout the 750S. High-strength carbon fiber is utilized in the seat shell, making it 17.5kg lighter than that of the 720S. Additionally, the newly introduced ultra-lightweight 10-spoke forged wheels are the lightest yet, contributing to a further reduction of 13.8kg. The Spider weighs only 49kg more than the Coupe, coming in at 1,326kg.

The Spider optimizes the monocoque II structure applied in the Coupe into the monocoque II-S structure. By utilizing carbon for the hardtop frame and panels, additional reinforcement work is eliminated, and the same material is used for the rollover protection system and the rear structural components, thereby reducing the overall vehicle weight. As a result, the roof can open and close within 11 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Compared to the 720S, the rear wing of the 750S has a 20% larger surface area, enhancing aerodynamic efficiency and increasing downforce for stable braking. The carbon fiber-designed rear wing is 1.6kg lighter than before, fully extending in just 0.5 seconds.

The open and spacious interior redefines McLaren’s philosophy of ensuring driving pleasure in daily commuting. The Coupe’s design, featuring transparent glass covering the C-pillars and B-pillars placed toward the rear, provides an unparalleled field of view and spatial perception, making it incomparable to any competitors in its class.

Great attention has also been paid to the driver-centric design of the 750S. The driver’s display is mounted on the steering column, allowing the driver to keep their hands on the steering wheel and focus on the road ahead. Control buttons for managing the powertrain and handling modes are positioned on both sides of the binnacle.

For the first time, the 750S introduces the McLaren Control Launcher, enhancing user convenience. Frequently used powertrain and driving modes can be saved, allowing the driver to instantly start their journey optimized to their preferences upon ignition. The vehicle also features Apple CarPlay, enabling smartphone mirroring and access to apps on the center infotainment screen, and the new exhaust system delivers a clear and grand sound inspired by the McLaren P1, elevating the joy of driving to a new level.

Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive, said, “With the McLaren 750S, we hope you experience a new driving journey that emotionally integrates the driver and the vehicle beyond mere interaction.”
