The Mercedes-Benz social contribution committee announced that they have provided traffic safety materials to support safe commuting routes for children at 330 elementary schools in Seoul in collaboration with the Green Mothers Association. They have also conducted guidance at I-Su Elementary School.

Since signing a memorandum of understanding with the Green Mothers Association last year, the Mercedes-Benz social contribution committee has been continuously conducting traffic safety campaigns focused on preventing accidents involving children. Their activities include guiding traffic safety in front of elementary schools to create a safer commuting environment for students.

Additionally, to create safe school zones, they are donating traffic safety flags to 200 elementary schools across 14 districts in Seoul this year, cumulatively supporting safe commuting routes for a total of 330 elementary schools. Last year, they distributed traffic safety flags to 130 elementary schools and the Seoul Police Agency.

As part of these traffic safety campaigns and material donations, on the 18th, the Mercedes-Benz social contribution committee conducted traffic guidance in front of I-Su Elementary School using flags with safety messages such as ‘Observe 30 km/h speed limit’ and ‘Stop at crosswalks.’ The area around this elementary school features side streets lacking a clear division between sidewalks and roadways, requiring heightened attention from both drivers and pedestrians. Representatives present included Lee Eun-jung from the Mercedes-Benz social contribution committee, Kim Byung-ki from the Children’s Future Foundation, Cheon Kyung-sook, president of the Green Mothers Association, and Lee Yoon-joo, president of the Green Mothers Association at I-Su Elementary School.

Cheon Kyung-sook, president of the Green Mothers Association, stated, “Since last year, we have been continuously running traffic safety campaigns alongside the Mercedes-Benz social contribution committee to establish safe commuting routes for children. We will strengthen our collaboration to ensure that the traffic safety campaigns within school zones effectively prevent accidents and contribute to establishing a safe traffic culture.”

The Mercedes-Benz Mobile Kids program is a child road safety education initiative developed by its headquarters in Germany since 2001, involving over 2 million children in 13 countries worldwide, including Germany. Since its introduction in Korea in 2014, more than 30,000 children have participated, engaging in various activities aimed at child road safety such as traffic safety campaigns in collaboration with Seoul city, road improvement projects with the Korea Road Traffic Authority, mural service activities under the Safe School Fence initiative, and the Play Safe art competition.
