SSangYong Motor has officially confirmed the name of its electrified model, U100, which marks the beginning of its management normalization, and revealed images and videos of the vehicle on the 16th.

SSangYong has named the vehicle ‘Torres EVX,’ having developed it under the project name ‘U100.’ Ahead of its launch, the company has unveiled both interior and exterior images, kicking off a significant new car publicity campaign. The vehicle is set to make its first public appearance at the ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show,’ starting with a press day on the 30th, held at the Goyang KINTEX.

A spokesperson for SSangYong explained, “The name Torres EVX combines the robust and stylish image of the Torres, which pursues the essence of an SUV, with ‘EV’ (Electric Vehicle) and ‘X’ which represents the free lifestyle inherent in SUVs, embodying the adventure and challenge spirit that transcends the limits of electric vehicles.”

Alongside its branding goals encapsulated in the name, SSangYong released images showcasing the expertise in interior and exterior design of the Torres EVX. Its design is rooted in the company’s vision and philosophy ‘Powered by Toughness,’ featuring futuristic electrified styling. The front end includes horizontally arranged dot-style LED daytime running lights that provide a distinctive identity unique to electric vehicles.

Moreover, the towing cover is creatively designed to symbolize ‘Ri,’ associated with the sun and fire from the Taegukgi (national flag of South Korea), highlighting the Torres EVX as a representative model of authentic electric SUVs from South Korea and symbolically representing SSangYong Motor as a South Korean automotive company.

The interior of the ‘Torres EVX’ showcases a Slim&Wide ergonomic design that allows drivers to experience a differentiated UX (User Experience). The panoramic front display integrates the digital cluster and navigation for improved visibility and diverse information access.

Continuing the DNA of the Torres, the Torres EVX offers a spacious interior that outdoes mid-size SUVs and features comfortable loading space of 703 liters (VDA213 standard/T5 trim 839L). As the first and only mid-size electric SUV in the domestic market, it provides excellent space utilization for leisure activities like camping and car camping, along with a high ground clearance that enables new and diverse off-road experiences not encountered in existing electric models.

Additionally, SSangYong will present its vision as a mobility company by participating in the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show after a four-year hiatus since 2019, promising visitors a special enjoyment.

From March 30 to April 9, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will be held under the theme ‘Sustainable, Connected, Mobility,’ showcasing a total of 16 vehicles, including the world premiere of the new Torres EVX, design concept models, and various transformed production cars within a 2100㎡ exhibition area.

Various side events will be set up to offer visitors enjoyment. The exhibition area will feature different zones including ▲ Adventure Zone ▲ Delight Zone, showcasing a camping lifestyle in ▲ Camping Zone, and presenting SSangYong’s future in ▲ Concept Car Zone, along with diverse programs like the △ Torres EVX RC car event and △ Tuning car auction during the mobility show.
