Lotte Fine Chemical has signed a supply contract for its urea solution product, EUROX, with the Korea Automobile Environmental Association. Under this agreement, EUROX will exclusively supply urea to vehicle owners with PM-NOx reduction devices, supported by the association.

PM-NOx reduction devices include DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems that reduce fine particulate matter and nitrogen oxides in diesel vehicle emissions. The Korea Automobile Environmental Association is supporting DPF and SCR installations for large diesel vehicles, such as buses and trucks, that were produced before 2008 and have a displacement of over 6,000cc.

Through this initiative, owners of vehicles equipped with PM-NOx reduction systems can apply for urea through the manufacturer of the reduction device. If within the warranty period, they can receive support for three years. After the warranty has expired, support can still be provided if there is a local government budget, and delivery can be made to the owner’s desired address.

A representative from Lotte Fine Chemical stated, “We plan to supply the highest quality urea to ensure the project aimed at improving air quality achieves its desired effects. Recently, issues regarding substandard urea have resurfaced in the media, and we hope that government agencies and automotive manufacturers will choose high-quality urea, which is recognized as original parts, to prevent harm.”

Meanwhile, urea is a catalyst used in the SCR system of diesel vehicles to eliminate nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are one of the causes of fine particulate matter in exhaust gases, thus significantly aiding air quality improvement.

EUROX holds the permanent trademark for ‘AdBlue’, the international quality standard for urea established by the German Automotive Industry Association, and has maintained its position as the top-selling urea solution in South Korea for 14 consecutive years (according to data from the Ministry of Environment). It continues to supply original parts to a multitude of automotive manufacturers, both global, such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Scania, Stellantis, and domestic manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia, and Tata Daewoo, thereby being recognized for its quality and value.
