The 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, hosted by the Seoul Mobility Show Organizing Committee and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, and Goyang City, will kick off on March 31 (Friday) with an opening ceremony, running for ten days in KINTEX’s Hall 1-5.

The day’s opening ceremony featured prominent attendees including Kang Nam-hoon, Chairman of the Seoul Mobility Show Organizing Committee and President of the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association; Yoon Kwan-seok, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Industry, Trade, SMEs and Startups Committee; Lee Won-wook, Member of the National Assembly for Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do; Lee Yong-woo, Member of the National Assembly for Goyang, Gyeonggi-do; Jang Young-jin, First Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy; representatives from participating companies; and other guests.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Kang Nam-hoon expressed, “In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, automobiles are transforming into ‘mobile devices,’ transportation is evolving into ‘means of mobility,’ ownership is shifting to ‘sharing,’ and the industry focus is shifting from suppliers to ‘demanders.’ The upcoming mobility revolution will change the paradigm of our lives and industries.”

He continued, “The mobility industry still needs substantial development and support. Although there is much work to be done, the exhibit will showcase a wide array of products and technologies including autonomous vehicles, eco-friendly cars, urban air mobility platforms, and robotics. I hope that the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will provide visitors with an opportunity to witness the convergence, evolution, ecosystem changes, and future prospects of the mobility industry.”

In his congratulatory address, Yoon Kwan-seok emphasized, “The automotive industry plays a critical role in our domestic economy and job creation and is positioned amidst the enormous waves of transformation known as ‘mobility.’ The National Assembly plans to provide maximum support to ensure that our nation maintains its competitiveness in the automotive industry and secures its role as a global electric vehicle production hub while also enhancing our competitiveness in the future automotive market.”

Continuing the congratulations, Lee Won-wook remarked, “For South Korea to secure its place as a leading mobility industry country, given its global competitiveness in the automotive and mobility sectors, government and collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutions is essential. As co-chair of the National Assembly Mobility Forum, I will actively support the establishment of necessary conditions for the growth of the mobility industry.”

Finally, Lee Yong-woo stated, “While the automotive industry is crucial for our country’s economy and job creation, it also faces new challenges due to the paradigm shifts in modes of transportation. As global competition intensifies in line with the demand for electrification, I will put in efforts in the National Assembly to help our country leap to become a leading global electric vehicle production power.”

The opening ceremony concluded with the attendees touring the exhibition halls of the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show after the speeches.
