The Chevrolet Trailblazer has achieved the number one spot in overseas SUV sales for January this year.

According to the January automotive statistical bulletin from the Korean Automobile Manufacturers Association, the Trailblazer, along with its sibling model the Buick Encore GX, sold a total of 15,311 units (provisional figure) in overseas markets in January, marking the highest export volume among all SUVs.

Roberto Rempel, president, stated, “The Trailblazer is a model born from GM’s commitment to quality without compromise, embodying the true values of a premium SUV from an authentic American brand. It has served as a key volume model for GM in both domestic and global markets for compact SUVs, and we are pleased to see sustained demand from customers around the world thanks to its proven performance and quality.”

The Trailblazer is a strategic model developed by GM with the global market in mind. It debuted in international markets in 2020 alongside its sibling model, the Buick Encore GX, and by January, a cumulative total of 451,981 units (based on GM performance metrics) had been sold overseas. It also reached the top of monthly passenger car exports in June and October of last year.

Last January, Amin GM, senior vice president and head of the international division, emphasized that the Chevrolet Trailblazer has been greatly successful in not only Korea but also globally.

The popularity of the Trailblazer lies in its robust, safe DNA of an authentic American SUV that reflects the needs of global consumers with outstanding product appeal. Unlike typical compact SUVs, it features a 4WD system for off-road driving and a high-strength body, complete with advanced specifications that elevate it beyond its class, including a skyroof panoramic sunroof, wireless phone projection, heads-up display, and a Bose premium sound system with seven speakers.

These advantages are well reflected in award-winning performance. In the 2022 J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study, the Trailblazer’s sibling model, the Encore GX, topped the compact SUV category, proving its world-class defect-free production quality.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet plans to enhance the consumer experience of the Trailblazer by launching a special promotion starting in February. Customers purchasing a Trailblazer through a combo program (a combination of cash support and financing benefits) will receive a cash support of 1.8 million won, while those buying outright will receive 50% support on registration taxes.

Additionally, Chevrolet’s Love Once Again program provides a cash benefit of 500,000 won for existing customers buying a Trailblazer and an additional 300,000 won for customers holding older vehicles over seven years old.
