Lamborghini achieved record-breaking sales and deliveries in 2022, marking its highest performance ever. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the past two years, Lamborghini has shown steady growth across various performance indicators.

Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, stated, “Lamborghini’s growth continues, proving that our consistent product roadmap and strategy have hit the mark. Thanks to our 18-month order backlog, we now have the opportunity to focus on our next goals.”

In 2022, Automobili Lamborghini delivered a total of 9,233 vehicles worldwide, representing a 10% increase from the previous year, achieving the highest sales figures in the brand’s history.

When broken down by continent, sales in Asia saw the largest increase at 14%, followed by the United States at 10% and the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region at 7% growth.

By country, the United States led with 2,721 units sold, a 10% increase year-over-year. China, Hong Kong, and Macau followed with 1,018 units (9% increase), Germany with 808 units (14% increase), the UK with 650 units (15% increase), and Japan with 546 units (22% increase). The South Korean market recorded a total of 403 units sold in 2022 (according to KAIDA).

In terms of models, the successful super SUV Urus topped the delivery charts with 5,367 units, a 7% increase from last year, followed by the Huracan with 3,113 units (7% increase) and the Aventador, whose production ended last September, with 753 units sold.

Lamborghini continued its growth in 2022 by introducing a variety of models. The ‘Huracan Tecnica’, launched in April 2022, is a versatile model that showcases capabilities both on public roads and tracks, featuring a unique design centered around aerodynamic and lightweight technology. In November, Lamborghini unveiled the Huracan Sterrato, the first super sports car that can be driven on both regular and unpaved roads.

Last year, Lamborghini unveiled two new models of the super SUV Urus. In August, Lamborghini presented the Urus Performante in California.

The ‘Urus Performante’ features a new rally mode added to the standard Strada, Sport, and Corsa driving modes, enabling it to deliver strong performance in any extreme driving environment. Its updated exterior design is longer, lower, and wider than the previous Urus, providing a sportier and more robust impression.

The Urus Performante established a record-breaking braking distance of just 32.9m from a speed of 100km/h to a complete stop on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb track, achieving the shortest stopping distance among all production SUVs to date.

In September, Lamborghini introduced the Urus S, the successor to the world’s first super SUV, the Urus, to the world. The Urus S offers improved output of 666 horsepower through a V8 twin-turbo engine, has the same output as the Urus Performante, and boasts a unique design with special styling packages and color and trim options exclusive to the Urus S.

In addition to their sales achievements last year, Lamborghini engaged in meaningful activities for the sustainability of the company. For nine consecutive years, it has been recognized as one of the “Best Employers in Italy” by the Italian Excellent Employment Association, demonstrating its commitment to employee welfare initiatives. It also became the first Italian automotive company to receive certification from an independent certification body, IDEM, for gender equality in the workplace.

In the same month, Lamborghini launched a new talent development project called the ‘DESI Project (Dual Education System Italy)’. This vocational training project aims to nurture Lamborghini technicians in Italy’s Motor Valley Technical Region, providing participating students with the opportunity to obtain certifications through five years of theoretical classes and hands-on training, as well as access to innovative Lamborghini professional skills.

Furthermore, Lamborghini is set to unveil its first hybrid vehicle in 2023. Beginning this first hybrid model’s production, Lamborghini will enter the second phase of its electrification roadmap ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ by 2024.

This electrification roadmap, announced in 2021, outlines the process of transitioning from hybrid to fully electric vehicles, backed by the highest investment amount in the brand’s history: €1.8 billion over five years.
