On January 17th, Jaguar Land Rover Korea unveiled the Land Rover Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition at the D Museum in Seongsu, Seoul, marking its first appearance in Korea.

The event showcased the Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition alongside the all-new Defender and classic Defender vehicles. Engaging with the iconic design and unparalleled off-road capabilities of the Defender, the exhibition highlighted the 75-year legacy of the model and allowed visitors to enjoy various lifestyle elements.

The original Series 1 of the Defender captured global attention when it was first revealed at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948. With each new generation, it showcased increasingly advanced iconic designs and unmatched driving performance, maintaining its popularity over the past 75 years. Designed with the goal of creating a vehicle that could tackle any terrain, the Defender has evoked a spirit of adventure in many and has established itself as a representative off-roader.

Revealed in 2019, the all-new Defender reinterpreted its heritage with a distinct design, exceptional all-terrain driving capabilities, and a variety of cutting-edge technologies, surpassing all expectations.

In 2021, the Defender proved its hereditary success by winning numerous awards like ‘World Car Design of the Year’ and ‘Women’s World Car of the Year.’

The newly revealed Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition symbolizes a tribute to the legacy of the Defender and the values pursued by Land Rover. Based on the all-new Defender’s top trim, the 110 D300 HSE, this model will only be limited to 75 units sold domestically. It features unique colors and elements exclusive to the limited edition, applied to the iconic design of the all-new Defender.

Land Rover has reimagined the rugged yet intricate and original design of the original Defender, encapsulating exceptional durability, sophistication, and uncompromising strength in the all-new Defender.

The vehicle’s high stance, short overhangs at the front and back, and unique silhouette offer outstanding approach and departure angles, allowing it to excel in any rugged terrain.

The 75th Anniversary Limited Edition features an exterior color reminiscent of early models called Grasmere Green, which is applied to areas including the exterior, roof, side signature graphics, 20-inch alloy wheels, and center caps.

The iconic headlight design of the Defender is modernly reinterpreted with matrix LED headlights, providing light that is optimized for necessary areas while projecting it further and wider. At the rear, a graphic representing the 75th anniversary and a Ceres Silver bumper enhance the limited edition’s uniqueness, maximizing its distinction.

The interior design reflects the Defender’s core value of practicality, seamlessly continuing the Grasmere Green color theme from the exterior. The dashboard features a cross-car beam in Grasmere Green powder coating, engraved with the 75th-anniversary logo on the right. Seats and finishing materials utilize the robust, low carbon emission Ebony Resista. Additionally, the support of the hockey stick design on the center console employs durable Robostack material.

The lightweight aluminum monocoque structure of the D7x architecture offers a high torsional rigidity of 29,000Nm/° and provides the strongest Land Rover chassis in history, built three times sturdier than the traditional framed body designs.

Building on this strong chassis, the Defender has earned the top safety rating of five stars from Euro NCAP, the European New Car Safety Assessment Program. It also provides a perfect foundation for features like electronic air suspension, a twin-speed transfer box, and an intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

The all-new Defender includes a fully automatic terrain response system that allows drivers to set driving conditions for modes such as Comfort, Eco, Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock, and Ford. Drivers can adjust all vehicle functions to the given environment using the new Pivi Pro infotainment system’s touchscreen.

The electronic air suspension at all four corners allows the ground clearance to rise by 75mm in off-road scenarios and can extend an additional 70mm in extreme conditions. This enables a maximum body height increase of up to 145mm in harsh off-road settings, with a maximum fording height of 900mm. When the seatbelt is unbuckled, the air suspension automatically lowers the ground clearance by 50mm to facilitate easier exit.

The adaptive dynamics system, standard on the 75th Anniversary Limited Edition, fine-tunes the body response according to the driver’s driving style. The damper continuously adapts up to 500 times per second, monitoring body movements in real-time and providing sharp handling and comfort even on paved roads.

The Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition is powered by an ingenium inline 6 diesel engine made of aluminum. Featuring 48V mild-hybrid technology, it boosts efficiency while reducing emissions. The twin-turbocharger maximizes the heat transferred to the catalyst, enhancing performance and efficiency, while variably operating electronic nozzles precisely generate up to 90% of maximum torque at just 2,000rpm in one second, maximizing the boost effect. This results in a maximum output of 300 horsepower and a peak torque of 66.3 kg.m, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 7.0 seconds.

The Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition showcases various advanced technologies, offering a new level of convenience and connectivity, proving itself to be the optimal off-roader for 21st-century adventures. The robust EV architecture EVA 2.0 (Electrical Vehicle Architecture) ensures outstanding connectivity. It also supports SOTA (Software-Over-The-Air) updates, providing the latest innovative technologies and services at all times.

The all-new Defender is equipped with the Pivi Pro infotainment system, inspired by the latest mobile devices, enhancing connectivity. Pivi Pro is intuitive, allowing access to 90% of its functions with just two touches and features built-in T-map navigation for local customers, providing great convenience.

Advanced technologies are also in place to consider passenger well-being. The indoor air purification plus system, integrated into the Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition, combines scientifically validated nano-X technology, effectively removing not only COVID-19 viruses but also allergens, germs, and odors. It features a CO2 monitoring system and PM2.5 indoor air filter functionality, allowing for monitoring and adjustment of indoor and outdoor air quality, ensuring the best air quality at all times.

Robin Colgan, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Korea, stated, “The Defender, developed under the motto that ‘where Land Rover goes, a path is made,’ has inspired a spirit of adventure in numerous customers around the world since its launch in 1948 and continues to receive unwavering love. We hope that through the 75th Anniversary Limited Edition, encapsulating 75 years of history and know-how of Land Rover’s representative off-roader, you will experience the pioneering spirit and heritage of Land Rover.”

The domestic price for the Land Rover Defender 75th Anniversary Limited Edition, which includes a five-year service plan package, is 134.57 million won.
