Renault Korea Automobiles is conducting a wireless update of the latest version of the multimedia software for vehicles equipped with its Easy Connect system, including the XM3, SM6, Renault Zoe, and Renault Captur.

This update will be carried out using the FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) method, which upgrades the software via wireless communication specifically for the Easy Connect multimedia software in the target vehicles.

Key updates include improvements in multimedia system user stability, enhancements to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto UI (adding shortcut buttons at the top of the home screen), and improvements in system notifications.

Easy Connect is Renault Korea’s connected car service system. Through Easy Connect, Renault Korea customers can make real-time T-map navigation, as well as order and pay for products sold at convenience stores, cafes, restaurants, and gas stations, all from their vehicle. Additionally, in emergency situations, such as car accidents, customers can receive assistance through a dedicated 24-hour call center for emergency reporting and accident processing. Customers can also check various vehicle information, including remaining fuel and driving range, set navigation destinations in advance, and, depending on the vehicle, remotely start the engine or climate control via their smartphones.

This is the second wireless update since last September, which will commence on December 14 and will be carried out sequentially. Customers of the target vehicles will receive individual notifications through KakaoTalk. Any customer driving an XM3 with a 9.3” Easy Connect navigation system produced before October 12, 2022, or an SM6 produced before October 19, 2022, can receive the update wirelessly.

Renault Zoe and Renault Captur vehicles equipped with a 9.3” Easy Connect navigation system or 7” Easy Connect display audio are also included in this wireless update. Vehicles like the XM3 E-Tech Hybrid that already have the latest multimedia system applied will not receive additional updates.

This wireless update uses Renault Korea’s Easy Connect system’s LTE communication network, so customers can have the latest software downloaded automatically while driving during the target period, without the need to visit a service network. When the customer finishes driving and the download is complete, a pop-up notification will appear on the multimedia screen, and upon customer consent, the installation will automatically take about 10 minutes before the system shuts down. If the automatic update is not proceeding smoothly due to communication environment, customers can also request a wireless update through manual settings. Vehicles with software versions prior to September 2021 will be updated in two phases.

For customers of vehicles that do not support the Easy Connect system and, therefore, cannot receive wireless updates, additional updates will be communicated regarding the multimedia software updates through service network visits if needed.
