The Genesis luxury large electric sedan is back with outstanding product value.

On Thursday, Genesis unveiled detailed information regarding the ‘G80 electric partial change model’ and announced the start of full-scale sales.

First introduced in July 2021, the G80 electric model is Genesis’s first electric vehicle that has created a new trend in the EV market thanks to its luxurious design, exceptional product value, and the innovative 400V/800V multi-fast charging system.

This G80 electric model features refined details under the brand’s design philosophy of ‘Athletic Elegance,’ enhancing its design quality despite being a partial change. The body size has been expanded to flagship levels, providing a more spacious interior.

Genesis equipped the G80 electric model with a fourth-generation battery, increasing its range to 475km on a single charge. Newly adopted features, such as active rear-wheel steering, a chauffeur mode, and a new active sound design, enhance ride comfort, handling stability (R&H), and driving emotionality.

Additionally, the model includes a 27-inch integrated display, passenger memory seats, and VIP seats for the rear passengers, providing various high-end specifications that meet flagship standards.

The G80 electric model was designated as the official vehicle for leaders during the 2022 G20 summit in Bali and won the ‘2024 Canadian Electric Car of the Year’ award last February.

Moreover, it has consistently proven its safety excellence by achieving the highest rating of ‘Top Safety Pick +’ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the U.S. last year.

Genesis has preserved the G80 electric model’s dynamic and elegant style while adding refined details to major design elements, such as the bumpers and lamps, enhancing sophistication significantly.

The front design features a newly shaped crest grille with a G-Matrix pattern applied in gradient for added luxury and presence, while the dual headlamps, symbolic of Genesis, utilize Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, emphasizing the harmony between high-tech features and luxury design.

Additionally, the charging door, designed to appear as part of the crest grille, enhances the aesthetics with an internal cover and lighting, equipped with electric opening and heating functions to provide convenience befitting a flagship electric vehicle.

On the side, the wheelbase has been extended by 130mm to a total of 3140mm, presenting a grand and overwhelming profile. The newly applied 19-inch dish-type wheels further contribute to its distinguished image as a high-end electric vehicle while improving aerodynamic performance.

The rear of the vehicle features a more refined bumper design with smooth and clean lines, connecting chrome accents from the lower sides to the bumper, thus completing a luxurious image.

The exterior color options for the G80 electric model include new colors such as ▲Geneva Silver and electric car exclusive ▲Matira Blue, alongside ▲Uyuni White ▲Makaloo Gray (glossy/matte) ▲Beek Black ▲Hallasan Green ▲Tasman Blue ▲Capri Blue ▲Brooklyn Brown for a total of ten options.

The interior of the G80 electric model offers a spacious feel facilitated by an increased wheelbase and emphasized horizontal designs, evolving into an area that provides a high-level luxury experience enriched with high-tech sensibilities.

By increasing the wheelbase by 130mm and optimizing the rear seat position, Genesis has secured a top-notch level of rear seat space, with rear legroom of 995mm (+83mm compared to the previous model) and headroom of 950mm (+20mm compared to the previous model).

The G80 electric model features a 27-inch integrated OLED cluster/navigation display that allows users to select either a split-screen or full-screen option for navigation, online video services (OTT), and various content based on personal preferences.

The center fascia incorporates seamless design to enhance the luxurious feel, while the touch-type climate control, crystal-design electronic transmission dial (SBW), and integrated controller (CCP) improve operability while maximizing visual luxury.

Furthermore, Genesis has newly applied a high-resolution sound system from Bang & Olufsen featuring 17 speakers and Dolby Atmos technology, with speaker covers finished in real aluminum to provide both top-tier sound quality and aesthetic appeal.

Additionally, the ambient mood light is thoughtfully adjustable for its position and brightness, creating a more emotional and cozy interior atmosphere, complemented by newly designed steering wheels and quilted rear door trims, enhancing the elegance of the interior space.

The interior color options for the G80 electric model include ▲Obsidian Black monotone ▲Ecru Camel monotone ▲Prussian Blue monotone ▲Ash Gray/Glacier White two-tone, totaling four variations.

Equipped with a fourth-generation battery, the G80 electric model extends its range, offering a luxurious electric driving experience by enhancing driving performance and emotionality with various technologies.

The G80 electric model features a high-voltage battery that has increased its capacity by 7.3kWh to a total of 94.5kWh, improving its single-charge range to 475km (based on composite industry certification figures).

Moreover, the powerful dual motor delivers a combined output of 272kW and a torque of 700Nm, achieving a remarkable acceleration time of 5.1 seconds from 0 to 100km/h.

Genesis optimized the front and rear bush specifications of the G80 electric model to improve driving vibrations, optimizing body behavior and driving assistance technologies. Despite the increased size, the vehicle maintains outstanding driving stability and handling.

Equipped with preview electronic control suspension (ECS), the G80 electric model increases driving stability by controlling vehicle behaviors using information from navigation and other sources, while dynamic torque vectoring (eDTVC) optimally distributes torque to each wheel during turns for enhanced stability.

Furthermore, Genesis implemented active rear-wheel steering (RWS) in the G80 electric model to ensure excellent turning radius and steering stability despite the longer wheelbase.

Active rear-wheel steering adjusts the rear wheels in the opposite direction during low-speed maneuvers like U-turns, reducing the turning radius for easier handling, and steers the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels during medium to high-speed driving to prevent body slip and enhance cornering safety.

The driving emotionality of the G80 electric model is maximized through its quiet interior and innovative active sound design (e-ASD).

Improving on the previously applied active road noise control (ANC-R), the interior soundproofing has been further enhanced by increasing the thickness of the quarter and rear glass, expanding the body foam, and reinforcing body sound-absorbing materials in the rear seat area.

The new active sound design intuitively conveys vehicle behavior states such as torque and speed through rich sound, featuring two sound profiles: ‘Horizon’ and ‘Heritage: Black,’ each providing different driving sensations.

The Horizon sound, inspired by the perspective of looking at Earth from space, presents a serene cosmic sound during driving conditions, complemented by an impressive acceleration feel, while Heritage: Black is designed around the concept of a stylish and beautifully harmonic six-cylinder engine, embodying the luxurious driving emotionality of Genesis.

The volume of the active sound design can be adjusted across a total of 20 levels, and when switching to sport mode, the volume automatically increases to provide an exhilarating driving experience.

Additionally, Genesis has upgraded customer convenience in the G80 electric model by incorporating a variety of convenience and safety features, including ▲in-car fingerprint recognition system ▲heated armrest for the front seat console ▲passenger position memory system ▲3-zone + climate control (independent control for second-row airflow) ▲digital key 2 ▲built-in cam 2 ▲direct grip detection steering wheel.

Furthermore, the blade-integrated washer fluid injection system (SWI, Smart Washer Injection) minimizes visibility obstruction from washer fluid spraying and reduces operating noise, enhancing both luxury and quietness.

Genesis has introduced a ‘chauffeur mode’ in the G80 electric model, along with high-end specifications such as ‘rear-seat VIP seats’ to enhance the value of the expanded rear seating area.

The Chauffeur Drive mode provides smooth acceleration and comfort for VIPs seated in the back, while the Chauffeur Brake mode optimizes brake control for a comfortable stopping experience.

Drivers can choose the chauffeur mode in both drive and brake modes according to their preferences.

The rear-seat VIP seats support electric adjustments in 16 directions (14 directions for the left rear seat) and include a reclining feature for the seatbacks, allowing luxurious relaxation even during long trips through the wing-out headrest and comfort stretching function of the Ergo Motion seat.

Moreover, Genesis has equipped the rear seats in the G80 electric model with features that enhance convenience—such as an easy-close system that allows passengers to close the door conveniently by pressing a button, electric door curtains, and a rear seat smart entertainment system (ccRC, connected car Rear Cockpit), offering a differentiated experience in a luxury sedan.

In terms of safety, Genesis has equipped the G80 electric model with features for emergency situations, including a pre-safety function that adjusts the rear seat position to a safer location when the vehicle detects a hazardous situation, and easy-close emergency levers and lights in the rear seat door pockets for emergencies.

Despite enhancing the product quality to new car levels, Genesis has minimized the price increase of the G80 electric model to secure outstanding competitiveness.

The base sale price of the G80 electric model is set at ₩89,190,000 before applying electric vehicle tax benefits. (The actual purchase price may be lower after applying eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits and electric vehicle purchase subsidies.)

Additionally, Genesis is offering various benefits, including ▲charging credits, damage protection, premium vehicle maintenance for EV car care ▲hotel memberships and subscription services for lifestyle benefits ▲Genesis Collection products inspired by Genesis design philosophy, such as golf bags and travel sets, to customers purchasing the G80 electric model.

Genesis also plans to provide peace-of-mind benefits when purchasing electric vehicles, including residual value guarantees for used cars and new car exchange support for customers receiving G80 electric models, GV70 electric models, GV60, and other Genesis electric vehicles by year-end.

According to a Genesis representative, “The G80 electric model provides the value of a new flagship by condensing the design and technology Genesis has proven over time. It is the truest Genesis electric vehicle, delivering luxury sedan value without compromise, whether driven personally or used for official settings.”

Customers visiting Genesis Suji (located in Suji District, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province) can experience the G80 electric models in Geneva Silver and Brooklyn Brown exterior colors.
