Introducing the Polestar 4: The Electric Performance SUV Coupe Redefining Speed and Sustainability

On the 13th, Polestar unveiled the electric performance SUV coupe, Polestar 4, for the first time in South Korea at Space Seoul.

The Polestar 4 is the second new model introduced by Polestar Korea, and it is the fastest vehicle produced by Polestar to date, while having the least impact on the environment. By eliminating the rear window, a groundbreaking concept brought to life through Polestar Engineering has been realized, maintaining a sleek coupe style while retaining spacious second-row seating.

Starting price for the Polestar 4 in South Korea is 66.9 million KRW, including the Pilot Pack, making it the lowest price among the 26 countries worldwide. Orders commenced at 1 PM today through the official Polestar website, with customer deliveries aimed for October.

Polestar Korea’s CEO, Ham Jong-seong, stated, “By 2026, we will strengthen our brand significantly with a lineup of five luxury electric vehicles and the establishment of eight Polestar Spaces, with the launch of Polestar 4 being a starting point.” He further added, “Polestar 4 offers overwhelming performance, design, passenger space, and excellent price competitiveness compared to similar models, including those powered by internal combustion. It has the potential to create a new wave in the domestic premium electric vehicle market.”

Polestar has completed a new style of SUV coupe with the Polestar 4, adding modern sensibilities to Scandinavian minimalism. The introduction of the new ‘Dual Blade’ headlight replaces the traditional ‘Thor’s Hammer’, clarifying Polestar’s unique design identity.

The design maximizes aerodynamics with a low front, retractable door handles, frameless windows, frameless side mirrors, a rear aero blade, and a rear light bar while also presenting a stylish appearance.

The interior boasts ample space and luxury comparable to a business lounge. With widths of 2m and 3m, the extensive panoramic glass roof and electronic reclining seats combine to provide second-row passengers with an immersive experience like never before. An ambient lighting system inspired by the solar system allows for customization with nine color options and adjustable brightness according to passenger preferences.

The rearview mirror displays high-definition real-time information from a rear camera mounted on the roof, offering a wider field of view compared to typical mirrors. When needed, the digital feed can be disabled for traditional mirror functionality to monitor rear-seat passengers.

The Polestar 4 is a D-segment SUV coupe built on the premium SEA platform dedicated to electric vehicles, featuring an overall length of 4,840mm, width of 2,008mm (excluding side mirrors), height of 1,534mm, and a wheelbase of 2,999mm.

Equipped with Cell to Pack technology, it boasts a high-capacity 100kWh lithium-ion battery that is large in volume and weight. The heat pump is applied as a standard feature, enhancing energy efficiency, allowing for charging from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes with a 200kW fast charger.

The Polestar 4 is the fastest production car developed by Polestar to date. The long-range dual motor produces a mighty 544 horsepower (400kW) and 686Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Its semi-active suspension system, adjustable in three stages, alongside a 50:50 weight distribution ensures outstanding handling and ride comfort across various driving scenarios. The range on a single charge reaches up to 590km based on WLTP standards.

The long-range single motor of the Polestar 4 delivers a rear-wheel drive configuration with 272 horsepower (200kW) and 343Nm of torque, achieving a WLTP-referenced range of 620km on a single charge.

Among the models produced by Polestar, the Polestar 4 has the lowest carbon footprint generated during its production process. The long-range single motor version records a carbon footprint of 19.9 tons (tCO2e), while the dual motor version has a footprint of 21.4 tons.

The primary seat material, Microtech, utilizes pine extract oil, making it eco-friendlier compared to synthetic leather during production and post-processing. The tailored knit material applied when selecting the Plus Pack is crafted from 100% recycled PET, offering sustainable yet high-quality design. Nappa leather is sourced from suppliers certified for animal welfare, minimizing environmental impact.

Additionally, materials made from recycled fishing nets and recycled nylon, known as ECONYL, are used for the car’s floor carpets. Natural fiber polypropylene (NFPP) is applied to certain door trims, reducing plastic use by up to 50% and weight by up to 40%.

As a brand that originated from Volvo’s DNA, ‘safety’ is one of Polestar’s core values. The Polestar 4 is equipped with an extensive array of advanced driving assistance and safety systems (ADAS), including 11 cameras, one radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to help prevent accidents or minimize damage. A new partnership with Mobileye will introduce an advanced driver assistance system called Supervision ADAS, featuring intelligent safety technologies.

Inside, the Polestar 4 features a driver monitoring system that observes the driver’s gaze and head movement, supporting safe driving through auditory and visual warnings, effectively preventing accidents.

The vehicle body, which includes ultra-high-strength steel, protects passengers from external impacts and features a total of seven airbags, including an inner-side airbag, to reduce injury risks. The battery pack, enveloped in a steel and aluminum frame, is isolated during a collision to minimize secondary damage from high-voltage systems.

Polestar 4 runs on the Android Automotive OS and incorporates an EV-specific infotainment system co-developed with T-map for the South Korean market.

The T-map infotainment system offers: ▲ ‘T-map Auto Navigation’ optimized for local driving conditions, ▲ AI voice recognition platform ‘NUGU Auto’, ▲ support for various applications via ‘T-map Store’, ▲ a web browser for web surfing and video streaming, and ▲ ‘In-Car Payment’. The system features an infinite infotainment expansion capability through OTA (Over-the-Air) updates, continuously improving the driving convenience and entertaining experience for passengers. Polestar vehicles also support OTA updates, ensuring that the car is always up to date.

The 15.4-inch horizontal screen can be split into a maximum of five sections while maintaining navigation functions and activating frequently used applications or vehicle control menus. A 10.2-inch driver display is located in front of the steering column, providing information on speed, battery status, and driving range.

The Harman Kardon audio system supplies rich sound with 1,400W output via 12 speakers and a hybrid amplifier. When the Nappa upgrade is selected, two speakers are added to the headrests, allowing navigation and phone call voices to be audible only to the driver.

Cargo space offers 526 liters, expandable to 1,536 liters with the rear seats folded, including under-trunk space. The front storage is 14 liters.

The domestic sale price for the long-range single motor version of the Polestar 4 is 66.9 million KRW, while the long-range dual motor version is priced at 71.9 million KRW. This pricing is significantly lower than that of key countries in North America and Europe by over 30 million KRW, especially when considering that it includes the Pilot Pack, which contributes to safety and driving convenience.

Exterior colors include six options in total, including the newly added Storm and Electron, along with Snow, Magnesium, Space, and Gold. An additional cost of 400,000 KRW applies only to the Snow and Gold colors, minimizing customer burden.

The basic Pilot Pack includes ▲ adaptive cruise control, ▲ lane-keeping assistance, ▲ Pilot Assist with lane change support, and offers enhanced driving convenience and safety features.

The Plus Pack is available for 6 million KRW*, offering options that enhance the value of the Polestar 4, including ▲ Harman Kardon premium audio system, ▲ 14.7-inch head-up display with Snow Mode functionality, ▲ 32-pixel LED headlights, ▲ electric tailgate with kick motion, ▲ 3-zone temperature control, and ▲ electronic reclining adjustment for the rear seats.

Customers opting for the Plus Pack can choose a Nappa upgrade for 5.5 million KRW*, which includes ▲ animal welfare-certified Nappa leather, ▲ ventilated and massage seats, and ▲ Harman Kardon headrest speakers for the front seats.

The newly introduced Pro Pack costs 2.5 million KRW*, featuring ▲ 21-inch Pro Pack-exclusive wheels and ▲ Swedish Gold striped seatbelts and valve caps for personalized styling.

The Performance Pack, which maximizes the driving performance of the Polestar 4, is priced at 6 million KRW* and includes ▲ 22-inch Performance Pack-exclusive wheels, ▲ 4-piston Brembo brakes, ▲ performance chassis tuning by Polestar Engineering, and intricate Swedish Gold detailing on the seatbelts, brakes, and valve caps to provide an outstanding design and driving experience.

Standalone options include ▲ 21-inch sport wheels and ▲ body-color cladding (must apply Plus Pack), priced at 2 million KRW* and 1.5 million KRW* respectively.

Polestar 4 customers can utilize 38 Polestar service points (official Volvo service centers) nationwide. They receive a standard warranty of ▲ 5 years or 100,000 km for regular parts and ▲ 8 years or 160,000 km for the high-voltage battery, alongside complimentary pickup and delivery service during warranty repairs. Additional benefits include 3 years of LTE data support, 1 year of FLO music app service, and an annual ‘Polestar Pass’ offering Polestar vehicles during travel in Jeju.
