The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 4th that the Kia ‘The Kia EV3 (hereafter referred to as EV3)’ has been selected as the car of the month for July 2024.
The Car of the Year Selection Committee under the journalists’ association evaluates new and partially modified models released from the 1st to the end of the previous month and announces the car of the month. The evaluation consists of five categories: ▲ Interior and exterior design and emotional quality ▲ Safety and convenience features ▲ Power performance ▲ Energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions ▲ Marketability and purchasing intent.
Among the newly introduced cars last month, the Kia EV3, Mercedes-Benz The All-New Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, MINI New MINI Countryman, and Jeep The New Wrangler 4xe (listed in alphabetical order) were nominated as candidates for the car of the month in July. After a fierce competition, the Kia EV3 was ultimately selected as the car of the month with a score of 35 points (out of 50).
The Kia EV3 scored 7.3 points (out of 10) in the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions category, while achieving 7 points in each of the safety and convenience features, power performance, and marketability and purchasing intent categories.
Jeong Ji-yeon, the chair of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, stated, “As a compact SUV that will lead the popularization of electric vehicles, the Kia EV3 combines dynamism and practicality in its design, equipped with a long-range model based on an 81.4 kWh battery, achieving a driving range of up to 501 km on a single charge. The ‘Kia AI Assistant,’ which is introduced in the Kia electric vehicle for the first time, and innovative features such as in-car entertainment significantly enhance marketability.”
