Lotus Unveils the Emeya and Evija X at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed

‘Lotus Emeya’

Lotus has announced its participation in the ‘Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024’ by showcasing its pure electric hyper GT, the ‘Emeya’, and the pure electric prototype hypercar, the ‘Evija X’.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an international automotive festival held annually around June to July at Goodwood House in West Sussex, England. It is known for featuring high-performance sports cars and supercars, as well as F1 racing cars, WRC rally cars, and prototype models, providing all kinds of cars for speed enthusiasts.

The Emeya, which will meet with visitors during this year’s festival, is a pure electric hyper GT that is being recognized for ushering in a new era for Lotus in the fields of luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology. Alongside it, the Evija X, a prototype hypercar built for measuring performance at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife, is expected to capture all eyes with its overwhelming design and livery, as well as its corresponding performance.

The electric hyper GT, Emeya, combines Lotus’s design and engineering DNA with cutting-edge technology to set a new standard in driving electric vehicles. It perfectly blends Lotus’s exceptional driving performance with world-class elegance, comfort, usability, and connectivity to offer drivers the ultimate grand tourer experience.

The Emeya is one of the fastest cars in the world, achieving a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.8 seconds and a 0 to 200 km/h acceleration time of 9.0 seconds, based on a maximum output of 918 horsepower. Moreover, it offers a perfect balance of up to 610 km (based on WLTP) in driving range through its efficient and refined electrified powertrain.

The Evija, the hypercar that forms the basis of Evija X, boasts a maximum output of 2,039 horsepower and peak torque of 173.8 kg·m through four electric motors connected to all four wheels. It also features a performance of under 3.0 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h and a maximum speed exceeding 350 km/h.

Developed exclusively for the track, the Evija X has pushed the performance of the Evija hypercar to its utmost limit while maintaining its electrified powertrain. Its curb weight has been reduced from over 1,800 kg to the 1,300 kg range, showcasing Lotus’s best aerodynamic technology to create a powerful downforce of up to 400 kg. Based on this performance, the Evija X recorded a lap time of 6 minutes and 24 seconds at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, placing it third among non-production vehicles.

Both the Emeya and Evija X, which stand out in their respective hyper GT and hypercar categories, will participate in the hill climb event, a highlight of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, demonstrating Lotus’s unique dynamism and high performance of electric vehicles to the audience.

At the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Lotus booth will be located next to the First Glance Paddock, providing several conveniences for Lotus owners, true to its motto “for the driver.” Alongside the Emeya and Evija X, the booth will also exhibit Lotus’s first pure electric hyper SUV, the Eletre, and the internal combustion mid-engine sports car, the Emira. Additionally, visitors can meet the Type 72, widely regarded as the best F1 racing car of the 1970s, and the high-performance electric bicycle, Type 136.

Simon Lane, Executive Director of Lotus Advanced Performance, stated, “The Emeya and Evija X that will meet the audience at the Goodwood Festival of Speed showcase Lotus’s unique engineering and design capabilities that complete its innovation and performance. We hope that through both hypercars’ hill climb runs and various vehicle displays, many will see Lotus’s unique luxury characteristics and vision for the electrified future.”

Meanwhile, Kolon Mobility Group, which established Lotus Cars Korea following an official partnership contract with Lotus in May last year, is the only official distributor of Lotus in Korea, handling distribution exclusively. They are also leading the comprehensive mobility business through a restructuring and expansion of their business based on their long history and expertise in premium automotive distribution.
